That's about what I had typed before my internet connection went down.
Death is a scary thing. Very few people are comfortable with the idea of ceasing to be, and simply dissipating into nothingness(the exception being Buddhists, I suppose).
In my opinion, that's why religion exists. It was created so that people could feel better about growing old and dying, so that they don't have to come to terms with an existence that otherwise appears hopeless, meaningless and futile.
