Oh goody the Wachowski Brothers are going to do to Moor's book what they did to thier own damn franchise. Fan freakin' tastic.

Let's see, you got Keanou, Kienoiu or how ever you spell that perma fried fuck up's name playing Constantine in a movie that doesn't even bother to pronounce his name right. It's Constan TINE, people, not Constan TEEN, then you've got the Wachowski Brothers doing V. I think the Matrix is out to kill Alan Moore.

Set in the futuristic landscape of totalitarian Britain, "V For Vendetta" stars Portman as a young woman who becomes the unlikely ally of a mysterious revolutionary.

She's too old for the part. Personally, I think I'd much rather them wait a couple of years and get Emma Watson (Hermione of Harry Potter fame) to star. Plus, she's actually British which will save money on voice acting. Also, I think Jude Law might make a decent voice for V.

But, sadly, Hollywood is too concerned with getting big names then with actually making a true-to-form film. This will probably make LXG look like a theatrical masterpiece...

And people wonder why Alan Moore hates the film industry.

From Hell was a shit movie.

Not even Johnny Depp and heather Grahams tits couldn't save it.

Fuck, Ian Holm was in that movie.

All that and it still sucked total ass.

Yes, yes it will!

At least they didn't feel the need to transport the setting from the UK to the US!

I read V at the time of release and enjoyed it, but on subsequent re-readings, I feel it has dated quite badly!

Agreed. Vendetta was written for UK at the time when Moore was feeling especially disassociated with the nation. Reading the introduction to V in the front of the TPB was honestly all I needed to get a feel for the theme of the book (as I was quite young when it was all happening).

Is the book dated? Yes. Will that stop the Wacko-skis from fucking it up (ala Morrie's Invisibles)? No.

I dunno. Strangely, I find that it looks more...well, cartoony in real life than it did in the comic. That just looks kinda dumb.

I agree, though, that the word "superhero" doesn't fit V, but will inevitably be used to describe him, since it's a comic book.

I'd be willing to place bets that they change the ending.

I didn't think From Hell was that bad(of course, I haven't read the comic, so maybe that opinion would change). Not great, but entertaining. I thought Ian Holm was superb.

LXG was awful.

The only problem I had with From Hell is that there was so little of the book there it didn’t feel like it had much tie to it. It was just another Jack the Ripper film to me.

Yes, it was just another mediocre Jack the Ripper film... except it spoiled a very important part of an excellent Alan Moore comic. At least that piece of fuck that was LXG didn't spoil anything (did it?).

Not really. The only similarities were some of the lineup. The only characterization in the film that even came close to the comic was Nemo, and his role was secondary at best.
