I know a few (not many) Christians with this problem, but most wouldn't consider it a problem.

How seriously Christian do they have to be, Non?

Basically, faith in Jesus Christ as the Savior of Mankind, and belief in the infallible Word of God, which is the Holy Bible.

(Two things that "modern man" cannot stand to believe in, since it requires him to "need" something more than himself, which is unthinkable. Utterly unthinkable!!)

Everything else, the church as we know it, the rules, the regulations, the denominations, the "we'll love you if you agree with us, but if you don't, you're going to hell" mentality -- those are all just trappings, and probably unnecessary.

Christians are not perfect. In fact, we're "works in progress". Followers of Jesus are still human, we still fail. We're not exempt. And we do suffer addictions.

Drugs in particular for me: pot and booze. I can't go to sleep at night without being either drunk or high. I tell myself books, movies, and music are more interesting when I'm stoned. I get bored easily. So I smoke weed. It gets me inside my head for a few hours, and I can forget about how much of a mess I've made everything. Pure, undiluted laziness and escapism, on my part. I'm too weak on my own strength to face up to things. Weed, beer, whiskey... makes things easier to forget.

But this isn't how I should deal with life's problems, it's boredoms.
