You can if you want. But, I was of the mind that no explanations are needed for anyone. Trying to explain why and how things are simply slows a story down, in my opinion. As far as, say, Cross, I'm content in the idea that, at some point, he gained hold of the madness that used to consume him. Case closed. Same with Drake Foxe's lineage. Move on to the current plot and play.
Generally, the untold imagination of everyone is much grandeur than any single explanation. But, that's just my opinion.
