HE WAS A ROBOT. HE HAD NO SOUL OR FEELINGS. EVERYONE CHEER UP.
Thing is- I can’t spell or type. I spell so badly my spell check doesn’t even know what I was trying to spell. And I have five Eisners HAHAHAHHA!!

I agree. It took exactly seven months to complete it, but it is a very cool story.

Ha!
That's almost like something I'd write.

Prometheus said: Thanks for the vote of confidence, Chewy. If the majority voted for me, I'd do my best to keep things rational and even, following your example of old. Still, I think there's alot of life left in the old Walrus for leadership. Just saying...
Okay, I've heard from everyone except Grimm. But, I can talk to him on Wednesday when he comes over to see me.
And, a note: as requested, I won't be starting this story until the other two current stories are tied up and/or finished. Just so you know. But, with the consensus as a 'Go', I'll begin writing the opening chapter in preparation for posting. If anything changes, let me know. Thanks.
Oh and one more thing: I hate preconcieved anticipation. This story shouldn't be looked at as anything epic or grand. That is, unless you guys make it that way in writing it. Go re-read Crisis and ID Crisis, and things like that to get into the feel of it. It's the end of the world as we know it! And Vanguard feels......crappy?
Cheers.
Is this still valid and Pro is waiting for the current Vanguard Europe story to end, before doing his magic, or due to what has happened in the lives of everyone this project is dead?
I miss the round robin stories. Surely I'm having fun (altough by now I am at a dead point) in writing my solo, and even more in reading the other writer's solos that are keeping Vanguard alive... but round robin, for me, it's much more entertaing, even when I am just a reader...
I would like to make a proposal for... and IF... there are other people interested into a ongoing, round robin Vanguard series.
My idea is to skip one year in the future, and start with a new Vanguard team, composed by the characters of the ones who wants to keep playing.
We create a status quo (I have no prejudice about what, superhero team, meta-merc team, adventurers... let majority choose it... I would be perfectly fine with keeping the current Vanguard Europe setting), and a completely clean continuity.
All the unfinished stuff (Manhattan, Mandelovia, mad Gods, sentient planets, aliens, clones, angels and demons, Da Vincis's code...) has been resolved in the previous year... and eventually will be disclosed and revealed by their respective writers in miniseries... but in the moment we start, all the universe is clean for the new Vanguard writers...
And we start with self contained, story oriented adventures with a stable line up like we have discussed and agreed upon in this same talk thread.

I think we're just waiting for Doc and Pro. Why wreck everything before we even get to see what we're given to work with? Patience is a virtue.

And, seriously, the story is drawing to a close. I'm just waiting on something for someone to move it into the final stages. Once I get past the fighting, which I think my writing shows that I just got tired of writing that style and began to lose interest in the whole thing, I should do all the wrap up stuff afterwards. I do plan on leaving room open for everyone to interpret the event how they want and move on from it anyway you want, including ignoring it. That is if this thing still has enough juice in it. I know 2005's been a helluva year for me.

Which story? Where? And I think Doc and Grimm can vouch for my group writing ability. It hasn't died - just relocated for the moment.

Since nearly a month has passed, I feel it's time to bitch around again. Quote:

The Indestructible Man said: Of course, I STILL need to figure out how I want to join back into the storytelling around here (as a continuity fiend, I spent months searching for and reading every MBL tale that was on the DCMB before I first started with the old crew back in 1999 -- I fear the task of doing so again, given the increased literary complexity of the past few years of storytelling styles!)
In the talk thread I suggest a DC approach, starting over with a "One year later" Vanguard story, a bunch of character and a defined role for the team, while reserving the resolution of all the open, previous, plots to many "52" miniseries written by whoever has unresolved ones. This way, no previous continuity would be needed to be known to join the group, we could start to write again obliged to not pay attention to previous continuity (so to put effort in the future of the team insted of the past), while everyone would have the chance to tell all the stories they had still not the time to tell. But it has not met any favour. Guess continuity is too much important for everyone else.

thedoctor said: I had no problem with that. Like I told Grimm about a week ago, I realized the main reason I'm not writing as much now is because I spend 8 hours a day on a computer at work. When I get home, I can't keep myself on a computer long enough to get anything done. I've just kinda run out of tolerance of working on a PC and try and find other things to occupy my time and mind. For that reason I can't really see any wrong in continueing on without me at this point.
Well, there is anyone still interested into an ongoing, collective Vanguard story?

I'm pretty sure we have an ongoing collective story. It's just not very ongoing at the moment. And no, I'm not interested in any "ideas" for an "alternative" ongoing collective story.

We have a stationary collective story. Always breaking the mold. I'd like to see those JLR wannabes do something as experimental as this.

I am pretty sure we don't, talking of the two of us, Sammitch, as both of us are not part of Vanguard Europe.
And I am not talking about an alternative Vanguard. I am talking about a new Vanguard I. story, in a cleaned up world for easy jumping on for new writers. Obviously, if there are no writers, there is no reason to start a new story.
