How does it go against rational reasoning? There is historical precedence. Operation Northwoods, FDR and Pearl Harbor, CIA experiments with LSD, CIA involvment in overthrowing Iranian coup in the 1950's, the Gulf of Tonkin. These are on-the-record declassified events that show our government is up to this sort of thing. Perhaps you should take a better look at history.
