That was the point of what I just wrote. Jump in, and don't worry about it. No one as been writing in that particular "universe" since Oct of 2005. Thus, there is no need to worry any more about continuity, or anything else. Any questions, and PM me...

Pro, that was nice. Fitting (in a way) with what I'd been wanting to do with Icarus for a while, actually... but not really feeling inspired enough to do. In fact, I've had horrible writer's block for a month or so now. Can't seem to write anything other than my own thoughts. Sucks. Good to see your mind's still working, though...

Thanks. I'm just having fun. No real point. I saw a void...a passage of time...and thought "What does continuity matter anymore?" No one seems to care about the stuff. So, this way, we can write when we want to, how we want to...and don't when we don't have the time or inspiration. In other words, do what you want with it. I'm going to.

Plus... it was great to see Prometheus back again.
Damn, I miss that guy...
That's it - I'm gonna dig up and read "Heroes and Legends" until I fall asleep!

I've begun reading everything I missed -- spent the last four hours reading HEROES AND LEGENDS. I gotta get to bed so I can work in the morning, but Pro, you're a genius. It warms my heart to see folks like you take concept I added to MBL & TOMB (Triarchy War, Courts of Light, Continuity, Saros) and make them sing like that... Once I catch up to everything, you'll see me posting everywhere again, provided I find space in my work schedule again (I took a break tonight after doing close to 30 hours art freelance this weekend)...

Ehm... actually Continuity was mine... Pro, GREAT post, it's nice to see Prometheus again... And it would be cool, if you are warming up to write again, if you show up at the MBL story...

Thanks guys. And actually, I was rather hesitant in bringing Pro back out like that. I seriously despise dipping into the well over and over again. But, I guess every once in awhile is okay. I-Man, thank you. I hope you are okay with the way I sent "I-Man" off (assuming you've gotten to the end). I seriously doubt I would or could write another H&L. Still, I have thought seriously about.....I don't know.......merging the universes permanently? Is the world big enough for a TOMB, a MBL, a P.A.I.N., and a Vanguard...all on the same unified Earth? Infinite Crisis, anyone?

P.A.I.N. is it's own thing and will stay that way.
I have one plot thread left dangling in the HR/Vanguard Universe and that's really the only interest I have left in that place.

So, does anyone want to join in? Or should I just call it quits? I was only doing this to try and get the engines going again. But, I can tell that alot of seclusion has occured between the writers here. Is everyone still picky and whiney about their characters and what is to be done? Or is anyone actually willing to ge out there and do something different? Just curious...

Well, I-Man...I guess we'll just have to see.
You have:
Chewy: Willing, but, has occassional writer's block and is usually very busy with real life
Phil: Says he's willing, talks a big game, but rarely ever writes anything
Doc: Usually busy in real life, and, has lost interest in most of the writings here
Euro: Writing like mad with TTT, Gooz, and T5 in that MBL storyline
Grimm: Has no interest in writing with anyone at all
Me: Vague interest and a few minor ideas here and there, but, am also very busy during the weekdays
CJ: MIA since 1978
Danny: Who can tell?
Mxy: Lost interest and is busy
So, you get the idea. It'll be hard to bring any excitement or input into anything to do with the Vanguard Universe. Of course, if you're willing, you and I could just write it ourselves.
Let's see what everyone else says...

Damn you, Pro, you've tricked me into reading a full story post for the first time in like a year by dropping my name all through it.
It's not so much that I'm not interested (I'm still very interested in joining the MBL story, for example), it's more than I'm dead lazy (I've read like two posts in the MBL story, for example... same with P.A.I.N. Agents...). I don't think being busy is a good excuse... you can always find the time to post if you really want to. To me, it's more a matter of getting around to reading other people's posts (even if it's stuff I know I'm gonna like). That's very hard for me. Unless it says my name all through the post, of course.

Mxy is a catalyst, man. A catalyst!!
Listen, I'm all for doing some fun stuff with whoever wants to. I'm not, however, up for delving into heavy continuity or in-depth plot planning. I really want to keep it off-the-cuff and...you know...fun...

Also, if you guys are up for it, let's just create a whole new thread called "Vanguard". No 'Europe' or 'La Perdita' or anything. Just plain "Vanguard". We start with the characters we want, how we want, and go from there.
In essence, I would love it if we could keep the running background concept that the world is not right, and has not been right for over a year. This could keep us from having to deal with anything "continuity"-wise. Also, the character of Mxy should be something ominous, now. A presence that we won't see for awhile. The team of characters we choose to put together could make it their subtle mission to find Mxy, and figure how to make a god correct the world. Of course, high adventure and intrigue along the way. Death, destruction, sex, and mayhem.
So, let's all do alot of drinking, and smoke alot of pot, and take some acid, and bang our heads against the wall, and see if we can do some crazy 88 mph stories. Yes/No?

I always find it works best when folks inadvertently do EXACTLY what someone else was hoping they'd do -- I can't count how often you, TTT, or Chewy would do that in TOMB, for example...
I'm gonna try and work my way into things the next few days with the plans I have -- what I have so far is only the barest minimum...
(of course, getting used to writing three-page long posts again is the hard part!)

I'd be up for something... but I need it to be fresh. Part of my problem was that everything stagnated far too quickly (honestly, I'm afraid it might do so again) and, as a result, I lost interest. Icarus, I think, was a one-trick pony who shot his load too quickly to be more than what he was... though I had plans to make him greater. Grissom was always fun, but I just ran out of ideas (which seems insane, considering the potentials and rivalries a character like that is bound to have). If I do continue to write him, I may even bring in a 'main foil' for him - as Grimm helped me flesh out about a year ago - to keep it interesting.
Seriously, though, Pro - if you and I-Man, with your new-fangled fresh perspectives, can inspire me to write something, then I might as well be in.

In those days, it wasn't difficult, really. Those characters really kinda wrote themselves after a while. At least Chewy did. That's why I liked the whole Viper thing Pro did with him in 'Rusty Visions'. If he had ever come out of that, he would've been hella fun to write... because he'd be more like Pro (the character) than his old self!

No limits! We aren't limited by editors, the FCC, or the Comics Code Authority. I want you to dig deep, I-Man. Get in an explore your karma, and make spiritual babies with this stuff. It's been too long since I've seen you flex your writing muscle. But, don't write a fucking encyclopedia either... BTW, I suggest we keep the current roster of characters we have (Adem, Ozzy, Lykopis, Icarus, and Victor), plus anyone Mxy or you wants to create. And unless the creator of said character comes along and removes him/her, we should feel that any and all liberties can be taken as we wish. I feel that, after almost six months, the writers would have come along and done something with their characters if they wanted to. Either way, it's just fiction. There are no real rules, And, I want to warn you guys of my latest inspirations in life: Phillip K. Dick novels The television show "LOST" The television show "Battlestar Galactica" Short storied by Robert E. Howard DC's Infinite Crisis unwanted sobriety Take all of that how you will...

I hear you 100% Chewy! Stagnation and lack of progress is the harbinger of boredom.
I've made Icarus into something of a tragic character, at first. His body has been changed, and grafted with cybernetics (of your own design and choosing, I assure you). To me, at first, he's not gonna be too thrilled with what he's become. But, Like Johnny Storm, I expect him to jump after awhile and be even better than before. And, most importantly, more mature than before. Is he leadership material now? Could be.
Lykopis, I'm going to flesh out some. Take away a slight bit of her personal hardness. Remind her how to be a woman without having to be so utterly dominating. That was CJ's thing. Not mine. I think it's time she stepped up and helped lead a group anyway.
Victor is Victor, and Danny can do what he wants. I just took his sight to make him even more dangerous.
Adem without the ability of easy communication. But, his brain was always his power, not his mouth. Can he re-learn English? Why did he lose it in the first place?
Ozzy's skin is now metallic, ala' Colossus. And, he can't turn it off. Not much of an impediment. But, it's something to start with. I may do more.
These are just my initial ideas. I think it goes without saying that any creator may override my wishes. However, unless they're going to do something different than before, I would rather the character just be removed all together.
And, last but most importantly.....pick a character. And that's it, you know? No matter what Gaunt may have said in that last post, I have had no intention of having Paragon, or anyone else readily appear still the way they were. The world is changed. The La Perdita team...are they gone? What's happened? I stated that 11 people had vanished over a year ago, with six being the crew I spotlighted. With Gaunt gone, it's five. Who are the rest? Well, that's the hole I left open for others to bring a character in. Notice, my concept is that these characters that have been missing...they're the only ones that really know the world is different than it was.
And, really.....what happened to these eleven? What happened to the six we've seen so far? What happened to make them so different? What changed them? What took Victor's eyes? Adem's "tongue"? What scarred Lykopis, hardened Ozzy, and teched-up Icky?
That's the exploration I'm looking for from you guys. And, one that I hope isn't solved in a single story.
Does any of this make sense?

And that, grasshopper, is why you fail. Don't try and emulate me, or anyone else. Emulate yourself. Write like Phil. That's all you have to do. This stuff isn't to impress the other, or one-up anyone. It's not to entertain, either. It's writing because you want to write. Because you need to write. Because you toss and turn at night, some burning tale begging to escape your mind, and become as real as the blinking cursor in front of you.
Just fucking write, Phil. Write something new. Take what you absolutely suck at in writing....and write that. The more you do it, the better you become. The better you become at what you suck at, the even better you become at what you excel at.
Just write...if YOU want to write....
