gym teacher, 28, arrested on sex charges
HAMMONTON NJ-- A Hammonton High School physical education/health teacher was arrested last Wednesday evening and charged with official misconduct and sexual crimes involving three male students, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jeffrey S. Blitz said.
Traci J. Tapp, 28, was arrested without incident at her home in Leon Court in the Atco section of Waterford Township by officers from the prosecutor's office and the Hammonton Police Department.
Tapp was charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual contact and three counts of official misconduct.
She was arraigned before Superior Court Judge Michael Donio. She later posted $25,000 bond and was released, authorities said.
Tapp allegedly sexually fondled one 17-year-old male student whom she invited to her office in the girl's locker room at the high school between January and February 2001, according to the prosecutor's office.
She allegedly invited another 17-year-old boy to her home and both engaged in sexual acts at her direction between June 1 and June 30, 2001, Blitz said.
Tapp invited another 16-year-old male student to her home in 2003 and they engaged in multiple acts of sexual intercourse during one night, according to the prosecutor.
A mother of one of the victims brought the allegations to the attention of school officials in March. School officials then contacted Hammonton police, who began an investigation. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Crimes Against Children Unit worked on a joint investigation with the Hammonton police. Crimes Against Children investigator Mary Elliot worked with Hammonton police Detective Joel Frederico and Officer Richard Jones under the supervision of Crimes Against Children Unit head Sgt. Alane Spencer, according to the prosecutor.
The Board of Education suspended Tapp with pay in March 2005 when the allegations came to light, Blitz said.
Police Chief Frank Ingemi said last week that the prosecutor's office took its time with the investigation, which lasted nearly six months, but believed that it may not be over.
"If a further investigation is needed, they'll advise us and we'll do what we have to do," Ingemi said. "I believe the whole situation may have to be looked at further. That decision is up to the prosecutor. When you do an investigation you want to make sure that it is complete. Maybe there are some more roads to go down with this."

Money lured math teacher to work as escort on weekendsMONTREAL -- Frustrated by her meagre teacher's salary, a Montreal math teacher says she took advantage of school holidays to work as an escort.
Using the pseudonym Dawn, the 29-year-old, who recently retired from teaching, sold her sexual services by night and taught high school math by day.
For four years, Dawn divided her time between the classroom and hotel rooms, without her colleagues' knowledge.
The woman told Sun Media that the $400 a week she cleared on her teacher's salary wasn't enough.
Dawn, who agreed to share her story provided her identity not be revealed, said she stumbled onto her secret second career while looking through the want ads.
She wasn't satisfied with her job as a teacher. "It wasn't stimulating enough for me," she explained.
After contacting an escort agency in Montreal, the woman, then 25, began discreetly meeting rich businessmen.
"At first I didn't have sexual relations with the clients," she said. "I only accompanied them to events and performed erotic dances."
She said she also asked the agency not to set her up with men from Montreal because she didn't want to risk meeting anyone she knew.
"I didn't work as an escort during the week, because I had to wake up early to go teach," she said.
Clients paid her $250 an hour for her sexual services, but she said she had to give half the money to her agency.
Working "part time" as an escort, the teacher said she was treated like a "real princess." She dined in the finest restaurants along Saint-Laurent Blvd. and in the Vieux-Port, drank at Casino de Montreal and received an avalanche of gifts. Dawn was living the life she'd always dreamed.
In addition to sleeping at the Ritz-Carleton, the posh St. James Hotel in the Vieux-Port and the Plaza, the teacher once went on a trip to Las Vegas with a client.
The pair stayed at the MGM Grand and went to the most popular shows in town, including Celine Dion and the Cirque du Soleil.
"It was great. I made heads turn," said the former teacher, who was paid $2,000 for the weekend.
The teacher had many clients whom she met on weekends, on school holidays and during the summer months.
"I had clients who paid just to talk to me. They were lonely and wanted company," she said.
With the thousands of dollars she was earning as an escort, Dawn was able to buy things she couldn't afford on her teacher's salary. She went on a shopping binge, eventually buying a car and a brand new condo.
She quit teaching in June after one of her clients learned of her double life through a private detective firm. Afraid the school would eventually discover her secret, Dawn chose to give it all up.
Dawn is convinced that her secret life didn't affect her performance in the classroom. "I was very good and very appreciated," she said. "It didn't change anything because I did my job well.
"Anyways, I didn't talk about what I did in my spare time with my students."
The former teacher, who now works as a waitress in a restaurant, hasn't told her family or partner of her experience.
"Even though I did it, I wouldn't encourage women to work as escorts," she said.
"It's still a dangerous job."

And, now, perhaps, the most twisted tale yet: Teacher Accused Of Oral Sex On Her 9-Year-Old StudentSYLVESTER, Ga. -- A third-grade teacher accused of performing oral sex on a 9-year-old boy, allowing students to peek down her blouse and slashing her wrists with glass in front of her students pleaded not guilty to the 24 criminal charges she faces.
Georgianne Harrell, 24, was indicted last month on 24 charges of child molestation and reckless conduct.
Her attorney entered the plea on her behalf and waived her right to an arraignment Tuesday.
Harrell cut her wrists with broken glass in front of her class at Holley Elementary School, according to the indictment.
Authorities also say she performed oral sex on a 9-year-old boy in her classroom, let students peek down her blouse and talked to some of the children about sexual matters.
Between August 2004 and May, authorities claim she abused a total of 7 students. She has resigned from the school.
If convicted on all charges, she could receive maximum sentences ranging up to hundreds of years, prosecutors said.

Two 12 year olds, however, aren't gonna get penalized if they sleep with eachother. Whatever sex they may be. That seems to me like society is steadily pushing past the lines and constantly making new norms.

But there's almost no difference between the two. The point of keeping adolescence(sp) from having sex is because their bodies aren't prepared for the act or child-birth. Them having sex with eachother isn't as different as an adult having sex with a minor. The case is even moreso proven through male minors participating in homosexual intercourse. This is considering their means of penetration (rectum) is never going to be truly ready for such an act no matter how old they get.

If in fact the woman did this I don't defend her actions. But the story is bizarre. Kinda reminds me of the McMartin Pre-School case in Manhattan Beach, CA, during the 80s. Bizarre allegations, mass hysteria and the eventual exoneration of all the accused. The mother that fuelled the multi-million dollar prosecution was eventually found to be mentally ill and committed suicide.

A Florida reading teacher charged with having sex with a minor pleaded guilty on Tuesday to two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior as part of a plea deal that does not include any jail time.
"I accept full responsibility for my actions," Greco Middle School teacher Debra Lafave, 25, said during Tuesday's trial in Tampa.
The deal provides that Lafave will not serve any jail time in connection with multiple sex acts with a 14-year-old student unless she violates the terms of the plea agreement, which includes three years of house arrest and seven years' probation.

The school has asked the parent not to volunteer but he is allowed to attend school functions that involve his child.

I just wanna say.........this is really horrible and the teacher should be shot and dismembered for scarring a kid for life.
I mean we go through so much crap to become teachers why would you throw it all away and abuse a kid? Especially when teachers are supposed to have this protective/deep love for the kids they teach.
This kinda thing ticks me off and makes me wanna kick the teacher's butt.
