Here's a question for all the girls and boys here.....

Cause I always get a wide range of answers on this one,
What are your favorite tunes to play when you're intimate with a significant other (look at that...I actually wrote something PC)?

For me, I've always loved anything Maxwell or D'Angelo. Those guys can get a girl in the mood faster than Brad Pitt sweating.

Then there's RKelly's Bump and Grind, Silk's Lose Control (God I love that one), Toni Braxton's Talking in His Sleep just for its beat.
And of course Jodeci, Jodeci, Jodeci.

I'll probably think of more later but what about you guys? Different? Reeeeealy Different?

Well, not sure about the best, but a friend's roommate makes out to Snoop Dog. Played loudly.

Just never struck me as...romantic.

Anyhoo, the friend enjoys turning the power off so the music stops.

Me? Being a fan of Madonna, I like 'Justify My Love' (and maybe 'Erotica', but its not a favorite).

Keep in mind that I'm a perfectly nice guy, but unattached and lonely, and I haven't had a chance to test out most of these. But as a musician and music lover (and adorer of women), I have given this very subject lots of thought.

The timeless classics (if a little cliched by today's standards):

My all-time personal favorite:
The Cure's "Disintegration" album

One that drives college-age girls crazy (so I've heard) and is a good album in its own right:
Dave Matthews Band's "Crash"

The '80s "New Romatics" are all great choices:
Duran Duran
Roxy Music and/or Bryan Ferry (especially Roxy Music's "Avalon" album)
Spandau Ballet

Any ballads by Chris Isaak should work wonders; that guy just drips COOL, and if I was a girl, I'd probably have a crush on him. Have I said too much?

Dark, sultry trip-hop like Portishead or Massive Attack is great for setting a sexy mood. Portishead especially. Everyone should own the "Dummy" album.

And one most of you may not have heard of:

Lovage's "Music To Make Love To Your Old Lady By," a tongue-in-cheek concept album of specially designed seduction music. It is produced by Dan "The Automator" Nakamura, the producer of Gorillaz, and features Mike Patton (of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle) and Jennifer Charles (of Elysian Fields) on vocals. This is HOT STUFF. If you're into downloading, try "Book of the Month" and "To Catch A Thief."

I like all those choices, except for Nat King Cole. I have a feeling if a girl hears Nat King Cole while she's going down on you or something, it'll remind her of like Christmas and other family gatherings and she might get freaked out and wanna leave.

Yeah...I have a whole CD of Nat King Cole singing Christmas songs. Can't make out to that voice.

But there are some old-school guys I'd love to hear.

im not into the music bit.

i dont put on certain mood setting music. i dont think there's really anything specific that i'd want to hear.

(one, main noted exception being nine inch nail's "closer." never fails to beat a girl).

so, that said, anything could be playing or nothing could be playing. ill handle the mood setting myself, thank you very much.

If its some real love making.... Ottis Reading, Temptations, or Sam Cook is always a cool choice.

However I have had an interestingly cool moment with a woman and the Flash Gordon soundtrack..........no, I'm serious.

I guess I like 80's stuff, just not like pop metal or anything like that.

...except maybe Bon Jovi.

I want to hear the sounds of ecstacy in the background..otherwise what's the point.

I hate girls who so NOTHING but scream. I mean climax scream is amazing. But some girls just don't know when to shut up. And then it gets really embarassing if you have roommates cause you're goin at it KNOWING you're gonna hear about this tomorrow.

Must be getting old, I'm not a fan of the contemporary "beat" music, and I have to agree with Cowgirl Jack, I don't think it sounds romantic either.

Most of the time my "significant other" and I just seem to leave whatever CD was on at the time, though on those occassions we were making the mood, not the music. Rarely do we put on music specifically for making love too, but on those occassions we tend to have selected classical music.

On occassions, we have played:

Pachelbel's Canon in D Major
Ravel's Bolero (OK, we tried this one just for fun - am I showing my age here? )
I think we had a Mozart compilation playing once (?)
Andrew Loyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera soundtrack

Maybe the only thing we had playing in terms of rock/pop was probably the James Bond 30th anniversary (theme tune) CD (mainly for The Spy Who Loves Me, For Your Eyes Only and We Have All the Time in the World, by Louis Armstrong - which is going to be the song we will have our first dance with, at our wedding this year).

Actually, just had a thought, Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture, could be kind of kinky?

You're not getting old. I listen to the same music. The only difference is I listen to it for the purposes of relaxation/meditation, with the exception of the Bond soundtracks and Tsubaki no Kioku on the Tenchi Muyo! In Love 2 soundtrack. That does have a romantic vibe to it, so I see your point.

Actually, I've only had one relationship where I used music to set the mood or mask the love-noise. It was usually something R&B, especially 112 or Toni Braxton.
