By all accounts WWE are planning to go ahead with the rumoured ECW PPV "One Night Stand" in New York on June 12th!
Apparently Tommy Dreamer has been given the task of contacting his old colleagues to sign them up for the show.

But is Paul Heyman involved or is this going to be a WWE event attempting to cash in on the ECW name? How many former ECW wrestlers would be willing to appear on a WWE sponsored event after the way WWE has treated most of them in the last few years? ie: pretty much killing off any heat most of them have had, screwing them over, etc.

Done correctly, this could revive ECW, done poorly it will just kill it off again. Like all reunions, it'll never be "like it used to be" but if it's done well, it could be very enjoyable.

Shane Douglas has apparently also set an ECW reunion show for the same date & has said that Dreamer so far has contacted Sandman,Sabu & Justin Credible!

I highly doubt this will have the effect that Douglas is hoping it will. 1) They cannot effectively market this as an ECW show since Vince owns the trademark. 2) Douglas himself is not going to be enough to pull in all the people they would need for this to work. There has to be someone to front the money and put the show together.

Which leads me to wonder if perhaps Douglas' actions here are being financed by TNA. Competing WWE and TNA events both attempting to catch the ECW fanbase? Very possible, and if true, could be interesting. I might be reading too much into it, though.
