Yea, there is a whole diologue in teh New Testement where people bring up specifics of Jewish law in hopes that Jesus will set them free from the law or incriminate himself by being to lax in his regard for it. What happens in turn is Jesus proves to be more strict, saying that if you lust after a woman you commit adultry in your heart and if you hate your neighbor you murder them in your hearts. One person approaches Him asking if he agreed that a man had to provide a certificate for divorce in order to divorce and Jesus says that no one should divorce, because the two become one flesh and the uniion is united by God.
I think in those dialogues Jesus is describing how people ought to live and believe and think in the Kingdom of God - the 'new world order' that would be created if people allowed themselves to be changed and began living according to the teachings He advocated. Obviously we're far from that two millennia later.
