The original "Friday," released in 1980 and featuring the hockey-masked killer Jason Voorhees
Actually, Jason didn't appear in the first Friday The 13th until the last five or ten minutes, and only as a child/ghost. He didn't wear the now-famous hockey mask until Friday The 13th Part 3 (in 3D) - in #2, he wore a burlap sack.
This "anal fanboy moment" was jokingly and ironically brought to you by me, Joe Mama.
As for this news report, I think it's a decent attempt by New Line (who I think own the rights) at revamping a franchise that got more ridiculous as more sequels came out. The Freddy vs Jason movie was a good attempt at breathing new life and interest into both franchises, as well. Bringing in a name like Tarantino potentially brings in Tarantino's audience which, for a low budget flick like this series, would translate into serious profit.
That said, I agree with G-Man. Green Hornet is more his style. Or a series of movies featuring the characters from Kill Bill.
