I've never heard a Christian deny the past existence of dinosaurs, and I've seen no conlusive facts that point to evolution. And considering the fact that these fossils were used as evolution's flagship for the better part of a century when they weren't actually real, I'd say that creationists have good reason to be defensive. The majority of the world takes evolution for fact when really there's nothing to substantiate it. Creationists believe survival of the fittest (the ability of an animal to adapt to an environment), but the changing of said animal's genetic makeup is too hard to swallow.
