The Ghost of Jor-El Quote:
March 10, 2005 - Latino Review reports that director Bryan Singer has cast Jor-El in his new Superman movie and it is a familiar face. No, not previously rumored contenders Michael Gambon, Patrick Stewart or Daniel Day-Lewis.
Singer will apparently resurrect Marlon Brando, star of 1978's Superman: The Movie, to reprise his role as the Man of Steel's Kryptonian father.
"As far as we can tell Brando will not be CGI, but Singer plans to use stock footage of Marlon Brando that was originally shot by Superman director Richard Donner," Latino Review claims.
"Brando and Christopher Reeve were once filmed interacting with one another to be used in Superman II, (here's the deleted scene image on your left) but due to a lawsuit against the Salkinds for a percentage of the sequel, the scenes were deleted and re-shot using the mother (Susannah York) instead."
Considering Singer's love of the 1978 film and his stated intention to make his film fit the continuity of the series, the use of Brando's footage sounds right.

First it was the Christopher Reeve rumor about him being CGIed into the movie. Now this. Is Singer trying to get out of the movie? Or has he completely lost his mind?

It depends on how it's done, I guess. I have more faith in Singer than any other director for this movie, and I'm a lot less inclined to call shenanigans with him.

It's not like he's using CGI to add Brando... if it's actual unused footage it could be very cool depending on how they use it. Plus, since this movie is a sequel to the old movies it kinda makes sense to use the footage.

Look at the ninja movies! This is the dude who ruied the ninja in American cinema!
Before him a single ninja was a dominating force, now after the American Ninja movies small cute animals can kill ninja by the dozens.
This is the enemy, people!

You would think that first title on list was a porno but it's a direct to video sci-fi movie starring Michael Dorn.

I'm surprised how many I've seen! As a young lad I loved me a ninja movie. Like I said it used to be there would be one ninja and he would be bad ass. He was like the Terminator. No fear, no pain, will not stop.
Then came American Ninja.

What is the purpose of news story about a film, if not to help us to form an opinion on whether or not we want to see the movie?

I didn't say that one story would be the basis of whether a movie is shit or not.
I said that news reports about movies can HELP form an opinion on whether to see it.

I remember once hearing the then-rumor that Jim Carrey was going to play the Grinch-- I did indeed decide it was going to be shit. And I WAS RIGHT!

No.
However, if you are going to use a courtroom analogy, as evidence piles up, eventually you use that evidence to make a decision.
In the case at hand, the Brando rumor, if true, is evidence of a certain type of movie.
Some might find that movie one they want to see. Some might find that movie one they don't want to see.

Also, Gene Hackman wasn't on hand for Superman II. They used unused footage from Superman I and a body double. That turned out ok.
But what would you have thought if you knew that before going into the movie?

Two different situations. Hackman is still alive, brando is dead. Singer clearly has a thing for dead people, which is why I don't care about this movie anymore.

You're assuming I think this is a bad idea.
Again, all I was doing was pointing out that stories about movies are INTENDED to affect our decision as to whether or not to see them.

So the Brando footage, which might take up about five or ten minutes of the film,is enough to make people not wanna see a film? Fucking moronic people maybe, but not anyone with at least half a brain!

Again, I did not say that this one thing was enough to decide, merely that it was one factor that might aid in a decision.
