Is this really such a big decision where you have to wiegh the news articles to decide if you're going to see a bloody movie? Do you like Superman? Then go. No? Then it's probably not your thing. It's less than $10 bucks out of your pocket if you do, and a couple hours of your liife (time you have to spare if you're going to debate shit like this).
Worst thing that can happen is the movie sucks and you forget about it.

Using your logic, I should have ignored the 2000 stories leading up to the premiere of "Catwoman" and paid eight bucks to see it.
By the same token, I'd never read a "Men In Black" or "Hellboy" comic book in my life. Again, using your logic, I should have skipped both those films.
And, as I've pointed out before, if it's a waste of anyone's time to discuss this sort of thing...THEN WHY THE HELL ARE WE POSTING ON A FORUM DEVOTED TO MOVIES AND COMIC BOOKS IN THE FIRST PLACE??!!?

I have never put much stock in rumours or opinions of other movie goers purely on the basis that one mans trash is another mans treasure!
Especially a movie that is only in pre-production!
With Catwoman it was not rumours or peoples opinions that stopped me from paying to see it,it was cold hard facts,namely the fact that the advertising pointed towards a storyline that had little or no redeeming features.
On this basis I would not pay to see it at the cinema,or buy it on DVD,but when it comes on tv I will watch it then & decide whether the film was good or not!
There is nothing worse than someone putting down a film they have never seen,except maybe a person putting down a film that hasnt even been made yet!

I saw both of those films as last second choices at the cinema. I just showed up and decided what to see, regardless of the hype. I really don't see how this could even remotley be considered a decision worthy of 'researching' beforehand. THEY'RE JUST MOVIES.

Personally, I'd like to see more comic book movies done like James Bond films in one area.
James Bond films, for all their flaws, don't feel the need to re-establish the hero's origin or what he's been up to between films every time they make one.
Instead, the producers realize that the audience knows that James Bond is a secret agent with cool gimmicks and gets right into the action. They also realize that the audience can accept that the series is decades old and don't feel the need to explain why the hero doesn't age (or why he is a different actor every seven or so years).
Why can't a Superman movie proceed from the same basic assumption, that everyone knows Superman is an alien from Kypton who disguises himself as Clark Kent, etc, instead of wasting half or more of a movie recapping an origin everyone in America already knows.
