What we know is only that Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace and James Franco will be in the film and that two out of the three of them are conformed villains. The truth can be found below and it's pretty black and white...
FDM has learned that Topher Grace of That 70s Show will play the immortal VENOM in Sam Raimi's third Spiderman adaptation. We told you guys a few months back that "someone" has snagged the rights to the character of Venom off of New Line Cinema and it was reported a few days ago that Grace had been "bulking up"- so we decided it was time to put the pressure on. So there you have it VENOM! Now as for the other two stars listed above we've been told that Thomas Haden Church will in fact play SANDMAN and that James Franco will play HOBGOBLIN and not the Green Goblin II (like in the comics). No more info can be given at this time, but I've confirmed this with various sources and apparently it's quite well known.

Actress spills the beans.
September 26, 2005 - While doing press for her forthcoming release Elizabethtown, actress Kirsten Dunst may have finally let the proverbial cat out of the bag about the oft-speculated identities of the villains in Spider-Man 3.
Dunst is quoted at Zap2It as saying, "We have really great people though as the villains in this film, Thomas Haden Church and Topher Grace -- Venom and Sandman." She added, "Maybe I wasn't supposed to say that."
But when a journalist expressed disbelief that Sandman lookalike Church would be playing Venom, Dunst corrected her gaffe. "It's the other way around. You're right."
So just to be clear: according to Dunst, Thomas Haden Church is Sandman and Topher Grace is Venom.
Although she hasn't read the script yet for Spider-Man 3 , which begins filming in January, Dunst said, "I know the general story. ... There's a lot that they're trying to fit into this one."
Spider-Man 3 is slated for a May 4, 2007 release.

Howard joins Spidey 3 cast.

January 19, 2006 - According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dallas Bryce Howard, the daughter of actor-turned-director Ron Howard, will portray famed Spidey love interest Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3. The Columbia production begins filming under the direction of Sam Raimi this month for a summer '07 release.
As THR points out, Gwen Stacy was Peter Parker's high school crush who later died at the hands of The Green Goblin. The movies have already mined elements of the Peter/Gwen relationship. The trade reports that "Columbia is keeping a tight lid on the third movie's story line, though it is known that Gwen is the third part of a love triangle and that the character does survive."
Howard appeared in M. Night Shyamalan's The Village and will also star in his next release, Lady in the Water. Her other forthcoming projects include As You Like It and Manderlay.
Spider-Man 3 stars Tobey Maguire, Dunst and James Franco, Topher Grace and Thomas Haden Church.
Oh, and today's Variety claims Grace will indeed play Venom.
