Saw it today. They cut a lot of the funny lines, and added some stuff that really wasn't necessary but I liked anyway (the scene with John Malkovich's character, extrapolated from a throwaway line; the rescue scene). I had some reservations going in, but it wasn't that bad. Purists won't like it, but for a mass audience, it was pretty cool. LIKED: the book animations Marvin (Alan Rickman got the best lines, especially the one at the end) the Vogons (kudos to Jim Henson's Creature Shop) the planet that looked like Magrathea from the TV series, but wasn't the Earth being recreated, plants, animals, people and all DIDN'T LIKE: the love story (felt forced) the giant woman in the disco (did they steal that from Futurama?) the "vomit" scene Zaphod's second head (and the way it was removed) I suppose everybody has their own list of things they liked and things that bothered them. Depends on whether or not you've read the books, I guess.

Dude I swear that was a dead-on dubya impression, but if that's what he said, that's what he said.
Actually, from a speaking soundpoint he sounded like Dubya, but the motions (hand movements mostly) were a lot like CLinton. I can see that.

That's right, I forget sometimes that you aren't allowed to have real guns over there.

I had to change the post before last. I'm all for ragging on each other, but I don't want to insult anyone. No hard feelings I hope.

A few notes for surviving these boards:
-Sarcasm is hard to read when typed on a screen.
-If anyone is easily insulted, then, they will be ragged even harder. Let it rip, and get ready to have it thrown back just as hard. It's all fun and games.
-Relax and understand this is just a message board.

I realize that it isn't that big of a deal. I just don't like insulting people when I don't intend to.
So moving on, what about that musical sequence with the dolphins at the beginning of the film?

My friend knows two lines of it. He sings it incessantly to the point where, before I see him, I have to play "Werewolves Of London" to get THAT song stuck in my head. Otherwise, "So long and thanks for all the fish - too bad it had to come to this" will get stuck in my head for days. Funny song, but terminally catchy.

Might I recommend that you try singing the McDonalds theme song "I'm Loving It." That fucking song is sinister; I honestly believe that McD's invested years of scientific research to find the jingle that is guaranteed to burns itself on your cerebral cortext. Mind control at its finest.

Randal...the Kill Bill theme is worse. It gets in your head faster than the Barney theme and Lambchop tune combined. Damn kids and their crappy television.

Just got the soundtrack to Hitchhiker's Guide & really like it. They include Stephen Fry's "Reasons to be Miserable (His Name Is Marvin)" that wasn't in the movie. Think I may have heard it on Dr. Demento a very long time ago. That alone made it worth getting.
Fair play!
