Just came back from seeing it with my wife

I enjoyed it.

It was visually stunning and gave a few performers, most notably Rosario Dawson, a chance to show what good actors they really are when they have good material to work with.

And, based on this film, I would kill to see Rodrieguez and Miller team up to do "Dark Knight Returns" with Bruce Willis as Batman and Benicio Del Toro as the Joker.

Hmmmm...hadn't thought about this.

Thinking back, Willis looks much like Miller's rendition of Bruce Wayne and Del Toro can definitely do crazy. He also has the look to make a good Joker.

Good call, G-man.

Oderint, dum metuant.

You are a god damned idiot, you know that? You ought to be smacked upside your dumb-fuck head, even after all these years. Shame on you!

No, I don't really think I could stand watching any sort of partisanship, especially Miller's, in a Batman movie. His blind hatred for Ron would get on my nerves.

i always thought willis would make a great DKR batman.

a few years back, wizard magazine did one of those "casting call" things, where they cast an imaginary movie with actors they think would play the roles best. they picked clint eastwood as the DKR batman, and i thought that was retarded -- mostly because clinty is like 1,000. i love the guy, and he's tough as nails, but... DKR's batman could still kick a lot of ass.

but, i didn't wanna just dismiss the choice. i had to outdo'em and select someone better. so, me and a few of my fellow nerdlings got together to try to cast the movie, just for kicks. i picked willis as batman, based a little off his fatherly-like role in armageddon (liv as carrie?), his "one last, good fight" role in 'pulp fiction', and the "sane man in a crazy world" role of 12 monkeys.

it also didn't hurt that alex ross' batman from kingdom come always reminded me of bruce willis.

for the joker, i originally had anthony hopkins, as hannibal's creepy "insane, but very collected" portrayal really matched the joker of the future.

id be happy with that, or even with the now-aged mark hammil, who no doubt, produces the greatest joker laugh, ever.

I dunno if I'd call casting Eastwood retarded, especially since Miller based Batman on Eastwood in the first place.
In fact, I think Clint could still kick ass as a DK Batman.

But Bruce has the track record with RR and Miller at this point and he's actually closer in age now to what Clint was back when Miller wrote the book.

clint has the character, that true. in fact, DKR's batman is more or less a caricature of eastwood/dirty harry. and, i mean no disrespect to the guy cuz, like i said, i loves'em. however, i just dont see eastwood, 1985 or 2005, pummeling through and over-powering 15 cops at once.

willis, on the other hand, has the physique, the grit, and exudes enough of the eastwood mentality to pull it off.

Pro and I were talking about this a while back, and he had the notion of using Keaton and Nicholson in a DKR film. He made a good point in that it would likely draw in the film crowd as well the comic crowd. I think it would be interesting, although I like Willis, too. Good idea.

Just saw it.
Loved it. I usually don't like overly stylish or dark movies, but this will be an exception.
I even liked Del Toro in it, and I usually can't stand him.
