You can get an injunction, but no damages. So yeah its hardly worth it.
Last year Michael Schumacher (five time formula 1 world champion),or at least his management, threatened a 14 year old fan with an injunction unless he shut down his fan site! The kid was making no profit, but Schumachers manager thought it took traffic away from the official website which does make money! Schumacher is obviously desperate for the money as he only makes around $25,000,000 a year for driving for Ferrari.
Stupid move, really. They could have given the kid a job on their site, or bought his site off him, and saved themselves some bad publicity. If the kid was that much of a fan, get Schumacher to personally write to him and ask him not to use the site, and offer him pit tickets or something. It doesn't take much mental effort to keep people sweet.
Still, they're entitled to be bastards if they want to be.
