i've done it before. we've had some attempts. the creation of an entirely web-based magazine ("e-zine"), using these forums as our palette. but the tries were half-assed, and inevitably failed.
so this time, imma try something different. we're goin the old american route: bribery.
the prize: with each and every passing month, i receive an unmarked box from a certain comic book company containing every issue, from every imprint, they release.
i have my favorites, which amount to roughly 15% of the collection. the rest, approximately 50 books, i'll collect or sell or donate -- and now, i'll give away.
thats the prize. whats the pitch?
come up with an article. a column. a review. a game. contests. themes. rants. whatever you want. whatever you can create.
the object: to create something fun. something that generates traffic. something inviting to new members. it must also be at least semi regular: once a week or on-going all the time, something like that. after that, the decision is yours.

the prizes are distributed by a
public vote. every month, we'll select the poster who created the best feature (no one can select their own). first place gets their choice of either 15 specific comic titles, or the rest of "the pile" -- second place gets the unselected prize. (
note: winners pay shipping, which'll be roughly $5)
additionally, all feature contributers will be made moderators of their feature's forum, as well as a few other benefits (crappy stuff.... but free!)
the goal: to maintain a fully functioning ezine, with the aspirations that i will buy promotions and ad spots, raise the site popularity, and eventually
make money where and
all article writers would be paid.
like i said: bribery.
