G-man, why are you attacking MEM when the conversation is about Rudy?
If MEM is bringing something up because he doesn't like Republicans, why does that matter? Why is he worthy of a big debate but the issues he's addressing aren't?
If you actually wanted to beat him at the debate you would post an opposing argument, listing exactly why he is wrong, not attack him personally or his motives for posting.

I notice you do that. It's never about Bush or Rudy, it's always about liberal posters and why they post with you.

You just proved my point. Why not address his points, instead of attacking him personally?
And don't bother attacking me, everyone here loves me too much for you to win at it. I just command too much respect and admiration here.

I wonder if in this case it's because G-man would agree with me but since it's a GOP candidate that he believes can win he's playing the MEM card instead.

Poll: Giuliani's hold on GOP lead slips
...
OF INTEREST: Giuliani's 24-percentage point lead in this poll in early March was down to 9 percentage points. Edwards, who announced recently he would stay in the race despite his wife's cancer, bumped up slightly from 9 percent in early March to 14 percent. Fred Thompson, the politician/actor who is considering a bid, was third among Republicans.

It will be interesting to see if future polls see similar results. A 9 percent drop is pretty substantial.

I think the record reflects that the issue with MEM is that his arguments are unfair as well as why they are unfair. I think the record also reflects I'm not the only one to notice this (see, eg, Sammitch and PJP)

With that in mind, Ray, you'll forgive me if I don't reiterate all the points made about that in the past.

I wasn't making an argument about Rudy though. I gave my opinion about what I thought of his character (lack of). You tried useing an argument to paint my opinion as unfair though.

Rudy Giuliani Says If He's Elected President, Wife Could Attend Cabinet Meetings
Thursday , March 29, 2007

WASHINGTON —

Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani says if elected, he'd be open to his wife attending Cabinet meetings on issues in which she's interested.

In an interview with Barbara Walters to air Friday on ABC News' "20/20," the former New York city mayor and his wife, Judith Nathan Giuliani, answered questions about the six marriages between them and whether she was the "other woman" who caused the breakup of his second marriage to TV personality Donna Hanover.

Rudy Giuliani, the current front-runner in the 2008 GOP race, discussed what role his wife would play if he wins the White House. In 1990s, first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton played a prominent role in her husband's administration, including a failed effort on health care reform. Her policy efforts created some problems for the couple.

Asked whether his wife would sit in on Cabinet meetings, Giuliani said, "If she wanted to. If they were relevant to something that she was interested in. I mean that would be something that I'd be very, very comfortable with."

Giuliani described his wife as a close adviser who has as much involvement in his campaign as she wants.

Asked if she would sit in on policy meetings, Mrs. Giuliani said: "If he asks me to, yes. And certainly in the areas of health care."

He disputed suggestions that she was responsible for the messy and very public breakup of his marriage to Hanover, with whom he had two children, Andrew and Christine. Giuliani's relationship with his children has been strained.

"No, she was not," he said. "I tried to keep that all as private as possible. ... I think I should be very, very clear, that she was not the cause of the break up in any way at all."

Calling Judith Giuliani "the light of my life," the former mayor declined to say whether his marriage to Hanover had been in trouble.

Judith Giuliani, who recently revealed that she had been married twice previously not once, said it was difficult to be seen as the "other woman."

Giuliani's first marriage to his second cousin, Regina Peruggi, ended after 14 years in divorce and later an annulment. Giuliani said he doesn't think the nation has reached the point in which divorce is not important in choosing a president, but argued that voters will evaluate the whole person.

"None of us, at least I don't think any of us, have perfect lives," he said. "I can say very credibly to people, 'Judge me by my public performance. Whatever mistakes I've made in my personal life, I made, I'm sorry for them.' "

at least he's willing to admit he made mistakes and apologize for them.

When he used a press conference to tell his second wife that they were getting seperated, would that fall into his "public performance" or into his private life that he feels he shouldn't be judged on???

Editing Rudy on YouTube

There's a new video on YouTube up showing clips of Rudy Giuliani endorsing Mario Cuomo, which everybody expected would be used against him. But if you'll notice, the video is carefully clipped in the middle, and that's to make Rudy's statement seem worse.

Here's the spliced together quote from the YouTube video, as reported by Hotline:
    Quote:

"[Pataki] has plans to reduce taxes that are so ambitious and so inconsistent with the performance of the economy of the state. It would be a disaster. It would be the kind of tax shift that substitutes for sound management."

Here's the unedited version, with the comments not appearing on the video in bold, from a transcript of Giuliani's October 25, 1994 appearance on "Inside Politics" that can be found on Nexis:

    Quote:

Mayor GUILIANI: He has plans to reduce taxes that are so ambitious and so inconsistent with the performance of the economy of this state that he would, in essence, in order to accomplish that, raise property taxes in the suburbs, around New York, and in New York City. Because-

SHAW: And in your mind that's a no-no?

Mayor GUILIANI: It would be a disaster. It would be an absolute disaster. It would be the kind of tax shift that substitutes for sound management. I've reduced the budget of New York City dramatically. I've actually reduced taxes already in New York City. But I didn't do one of those pledges and promises and one of those fancy campaign things that locks you into unwise economic policy.

Clearly, Giuliani was worried about rising property taxes in and around New York City. YouTube is a great resource, but given the growing influence it has, we have to be careful to treat everything with a skeptical eye.

Furthermore, it turned out that Giuliani was right. Pataki's tax plan didn't lower taxes. It only resulted in the shifting of the tax burden to the cities and counties, leading, in some years of his administration, to double digit property tax increases.

So Rudy was, in fact, being an economic conservative when he criticized Pataki.

G-man, why don't you ever post the youtube videos instead of just describing them?
This is the second time you've given a description of a video instead of saving the time and posting it.
I guess they don't teach presentation in traffic court.

"Rudolph W. Giuliani told a grand jury that his former chief investigator remembered having briefed him on some aspects of Bernard B. Kerik's relationship with a company suspected of ties to organized crime before Mr. Kerik's appointment as New York City police commissioner, according to court records," The New York Times reports on Friday page ones.

Kerik was appointed by President Bush to serve as Homeland Security Secretary and then backed out after concerns were raised about shady business dealings and alleged connections to the mob.
...

Excerpts from the restricted article:

#

Mr. Giuliani, testifying last year under oath before a Bronx grand jury investigating Mr. Kerik, said he had no memory of the briefing, but he did not dispute that it had taken place, according to a transcript of his testimony.

Mr. Giuliani's testimony amounts to a significantly new version of what information was probably before him in the summer of 2000 as he was debating Mr. Kerik's appointment as the city's top law enforcement officer. Mr. Giuliani had previously said that he had never been told of Mr. Kerik's entanglement with the company before promoting him to the police job or later supporting his failed bid to be the nation's homeland security secretary. ...

RAW
Sigh, another one with memory problems.

but posting a youtube of the youtube video you're discussing makes more sense then just writing out a long description of the video.
you just don't like it because bush looks dumber in video than in simple text.

Even if that were the case, since I was posting an article about how the youtube video was inaccurate simply posting the video would not, in and of itself, convey the fact that the video was inaccurate, would it?

In addition, I don't just post YouTube videos because (a) not everyone has highspeed internet; (b) not everyone one is going to click on the video just to try and figure out the point of posting the video.

Report: Giuliani's wife worked for company that killed dogs
A few days after GOP presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani announced that his wife, Judith, would be welcome to attend cabinet meetings at the White House, the New York Post reports this morning that the registered nurse worked as a traveling saleswoman for a company that killed dogs to demonstrate surgical staples to potential clients.

"It was a horribly cruel, outrageous program," Friends of Animals President Priscilla Feral said, according to the Post.

According to the tabloid, a Giuliani spokesman said "only that Judi had not been involved in procuring dogs for sales demonstrations - but did not comment on whether she participated in demonstrations involving dogs

She held the job over thirty years ago, back when animal testing, right or wrong, was very common.

That's the best you got? That his wife (not him, his wife) held a job over thirty years that, while legal, is not particularly popular a third of a century later?

Naw, that's was just a little bit of interesting trivea when it comes to Rudy & his newest wife. Considering the pictures I've seen of her, it looks like she tested the stapling technique on herself, perhaps sparing a puppy or two.

let he who has never insulted hillary for her looks cast the first stone here, G-man.

You can't rock the vote in a glass house.

Look at the G-pot calling the Obama black.

How many roads must a G-man walk down, before you can call him a G-man? The answer my friend is G-man blowing Rob in the back of his car for a ride down those roads.

Hillary is the candidate. I'm sure I've criticized her looks now and then, joking or otherwise.

I don't recall ever criticizing Chelsea's looks. I don't approve of doing so. I didn't approve of Limbaugh doing it and I didn't approve of Mike Myers doing it in a 'Wayne's World' sketch of the time either.
