From, ironically, Fox News: NEW YORK — Peter Jennings, the chief ABC News anchorman for more than 20 years, has been diagnosed with lung cancer, the network said Tuesday.
Jennings, 66, will begin chemotherapy as an outpatient next week and will continue as anchorman for ABC News.
In a memo to his staff at ABC, Jennings wrote:
"I have been diagnosed with lung cancer. Yes, it was quite a surprise. As you all know, this is a challenge. I begin chemotherapy next week. I will continue to do the broadcast."
