So, as with the old "it's not fashionable to be Christian" thread, I have a hard time believing there's some big conspiracy against Christians, or that most people have a grudge.

The point is "God" hasn't just meant spirituality over the past century, but has more been alluded to lately as a symbol of justice and compassion.
I don't know about "more alluded". Generally, the idea of God is still a spiritual one, even if it has found its way into certain colloquialisms.
