- Pat Patterson is once again working for WWE, this time as agent on a part-time basis.

- Legendary wrestling manager Captain Lou Albano, 71 suffered a heart attack earlier this week. Albano is said to be in stable condition and is scheduled to be released later this week. Albano had been scheduled to reunited with old proteges the Valiant Brothers at a convention this weekend in New Jersey, although it isn't likely he'll be up for any public appearances at this point.
The famed manager was best known for a long heel run in the 1970s, bringing a variety of competitors to challenge the WWF champions of the era as well as managing over a dozen teams to the WWF Tag Team championships. Albano turned babyface in the mid-1980s after appearing in a music video with Cyndi Lauper. Albano's trademark manic interviews led the way to a number of film and television appearances as well. He had lost a tremendous amount of weight in recent years and still makes occasional independent and convention appearances.

Reports from backstage sources leaked on Thursday indicate that Luther Reigns' release was actually the result of a personal request from the superstar. Reigns felt that he was not being utilized to his maximum potential and asked the company to release him from his contract. There is absolutely no heat on Reigns from management, with many praising the wrestler for being upfront about his concerns.
Reigns currently plans to devote more focus to his real estate investments in Arizona. Although he did leave on great terms, the likelihood of a return is unknown as Reigns is very interested in his real estate venture.
The rumor that Reigns' release was related to his leaving the European tour, which was due to injury, appears to be unsubstantiated.

In regards to how the recent WWE books have been selling, Triple H's "Making of the Game" book has sold over 19,000 copies, while WWE's "Are We There Yet" book has sold 10,000 copies. The same can't be said about some non-WWE related books. "Death of WCW" has sold 6,800 copies, Dusty Rhodes' new autobiography has sold 1,400 copies, Terry Funk's autobiography has sold close to 1,500 copies, Harley Race's book has sold 2,300 copies and Jimmy Hart's biography has only sold 750 copies.

Gene Snitsky has missed ring time in WWE due to a blood clot forming in his stomach. He has been medically cleared to return and could be back as soon as to night on RAW, although that has yet to be confirmed at this time.

It's all marketing. The other books don't have a weekly program pushing them and I'm sure they'd do better if more people were aware of them. I'm reading Dusty's and Funk's (with Race's up next) and they're both extremely well written.
Dusty's especially really brings across his manner of storytelling and is very enjoyable. In fact, I've been thinking of posting excerpts here from some of the various books I have to try to spark people's interest.
Hart's book was also enjoyable, though I read it in the store and haven't bought it (mainly because it was a misprinted copy which starts in chapter three, then reprints chapters three through six).
But Death of WCW was just painful to read and relive. The authors know their subject (though I did find some errors) but I just couldn't sit through it all again. Too much badness perpetrated.

I enjoyed the Wrestlecrap book, but haven't gotten around to Death of WCW. It should be noted that no less an authority than Scott Hudson said that the book was very accurate.

The following is from StormWrestling.com, the official website of former WWE superstar Lance Storm.
A New Direction May 16, 2005
My life and career are taking yet another strange turn. After long debate with my wife, I’ve decided it was time to get off the road completely, and stay home with my family. Last week I gave my notice to WWE and we will be parting ways at the end of my current contract this July. The office and I are parting on great terms and will continue to keep in touch, as we are both open to the possibility of working together again in the future. I can’t thank WWE enough for everything it has afforded me over the past 4 years.
My departure from WWE won’t be a complete end to my wrestling career as I plan to open my own wrestling school. I’ve always kept this possibility alive in the back of my mind and I think it is finally time. I’ve always enjoyed teaching, and after a year as head trainer in WWE’s developmental system (OVW), I know this is something I will both enjoy and be very good at.

We've been told that Diamond Dallas Page is done with TNA. We're told Page finished up with the company at Hard Justice on Sunday. We do know TNA management was unhappy because DDP didn't want to job over Monty Brown and requested interference from Phi-Delta Slam on Sunday.
We're also told that Page was not happy with Dusty Rhodes stepping down as a booker as he was always a favorite of Dusty's. There really wasn't much left for Page to do in the company at this point either beyond putting over others.

It appears Juvetund Guerrera has signed his WWE contract. He is telling friends he won’t be doing jobs on his way out of Mexico because that would look bad for a WWE superstar. WWE is working on finishing his paperwork for his visa.

In a funny twist, if you visit www.ReyMysterio.com right now, the official website of Rey Mysterio, it is currently overtaken by Eddie Guerrero's online webpage. That's right, in what appears to be a fun little bit of internet promotion, Eddie Guerrero has hacked and taken over Rey Mysterio's world on the internet! The cover page of Mysterio's official website currently has a big splash enter image that features a close-up of Eddie Guerrero with the caption "Just when you thought ReyMysterio.com is back.....you're WRONG! Judgment Day is here REY-REY!" Inside, the main website has Guerrero's new heel "Lie, Cheat, Steal" theme song playing in the background, along with a main image of Eddie beating up Rey. All of the content featured on the website is Guerrero's as well.
