Strangely enough, this doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. The last month of the season, I watched Boston stink up the place. At a time when they should've been sweeping most of these teams, they were lucky to escape with one win out of three. They played about 30 games in a row and it was obvious that they were burned out. So maybe they best thing for them was a quick playoff exit. Plus, the only team that can say they made it to the World Series AND unseated the Champs are the White Sox, who boasted the best record in the AL and won when it really counted. That counts for something.
Keeping with my realistic/optimistic tone (and throwing in my standard pompous remark), remember that the Patriots won their first Super Bowl, didn't make the playoffs the following season, and then whipped off two more titles. GO SOX!!!
