What cartoon do you like best, and why do you think it appeals to you?

Cool! Bugs Bunny was a clever show, written and drawn well. He was really good at sarcasm, too.

Astroboy is my favorite..the ORIGINAL, from1964. 104 english episodes were aired in the US.

Astro was brave, loyal, caring, and strong. He'd risk his life to save a stranger! I admire that.

I have several Astroboy figures in my figure collection.

Here's a site about the original Astro, with an episode guide, pictures, and more :

The Warner Bros cartoons from the 40s and 50s, to me, represent animated shorts that their most perfect. The comedy that reaches across all ages, the use of classical music, the characters...it don't get much better.

Cowboy Bebop has a little of everything I love: Pulp, Mystery, Action, Comedy, Great Characters, Spaceships...it's my favorite series.

Ninja Scroll: My favorite Anime movie!!!

Love the old WB cartoons, too, Joe!

What did you think of the Max Fleischer Superman cartoons from the 40's ? I thought they were quite good, myself.

Scooby-Doo...always has been, always will be my most favorite cartoon ever.

Some runner-ups though would include:
Voltron-Yeah,the Lions were more popular but I dug the vehicle Voltron more.
Star Blazers-Wave Motion gun...totally bad-ass
Transformers-The first couple seasons were the best.

leseee....

Definately the Warner shorts of the 40's and 50's.

The Super-Friends in all their various incarnations in the '70's.
That was my first MUST-SEE cartoon experience.

Batman: The Animated Series + Superman + Batman Beyond. Definately. Finally someone did it right.

The Fleisher Superman cartoons.

Peter Pan & Pinocchio from Walt Disney. Absolutely magical to a young boy.

Currently:

Justice League Unlimited. It gives me the same goose bumps and anticipation that i used to get from the Super-Friends as a kid.

Disney's Gargoyles- It was just damn good.
Batman: The Animated Series- Well, just the first couple of seasons. After it moved to the WB it got lame.
Duck Tales- Do I have to explain this one?
Scooby Doo- Again, do I have to explain?
South Park- Damn funny.
Family Guy- Ditto.
The Simpsons & Futurama- Ditto.
Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends- This, along with The Superfriends, is what got me into comics in the first place.

Not the biggest fan of cartoons but there are a few examples that still interest me to this day:
Looney Tunes:Specifically if it involves both Daffy & Bugs

Hanna & Barbera:Most if not all of this stable are great

South Park:Fucking funny, and cleverer than most people realise

Shrek movies:One of the few movie animations I enjoy

House of rock:Obscure British animation featuring Notorious B.I.G,Freddie Mercury,John Denver,John Lennon (replaced Marc Bolan) & Kurt Cobain all living in puragatory.

Ren & Stimpy:Sick & funny

Batman: The Animated Series was the best quality cartoon ever in my opinion, although the original Transformers molded me like no other program.

Other lifelong favorites include Gargoyles, the BTAS spinoffs (Superman, Batman Beyond, Justice League), Beast Wars and Beast Machines, Animaniacs, and the mid-90's Spiderman and X-Men...

Definately Invader Zim! The dark humour in this show is absolutely priceless

runners up

Justice League-- 2 parter action done right. No short one episode stories and amazingly well done
Family Guy-- only show thats ever really made me laugh outloud
Batman animated series-- a classic
Berserk-- brutal medievil anime. disturbing ending, but still amazing
Rurouni Kenshin-- sword swinging anime set a century ago in Japan
GTO-- perverted anime about a wannabe teacher who is an ex-gang member and a letch
He-man-- the latest incarnation. suprisingly enough i liked this a lot, especially the last ep. where King Hiss accidentally ate his own head
Fist of the North Star-- crazy 80's anime about a martial arts master roaming the planet after a nucleaur holocaust who goes around blowing peoples heads off with his special fighting technique
Gargoyles-- loved this

So many to list...

For this, I think I'll just list Batman: The Animated Series, and Robotech: The Macross Saga.
