    Batman Begins Comes Home
    Two-disc special edition details inside!
    by Steven Horn
August 25, 2005 - While the debate still rages about who is the best actor ever to suit up as the Dark Knight, DVD stores are clearing space for the upcoming release of Batman Begins on October 18, 2005. The title will be available in two versions, a big bad two-disc version and a watered-down single disc for Gotham residents a little short on the scratch.

Batman Begins is one of 2005's better reviewed films. IGN FilmForce's Jeff Otto wrote: "Christopher Nolan's work on Batman Begins is truly outstanding. He has taken command of the franchise and raised the bar for comic-based films. Nolan had never really directed action before, but he handles the intense action sequences of the new Batman film like a seasoned veteran. And unlike action maestros like John Woo, Michael Bay or George Lucas, Nolan doesn't gloss over the story or the drama that surrounds the action. Instead, he interweaves all of these aspects into a film that you can't even call a comic film. It's too accessible for that. Even when compared to the greatest comic films ever made, such as 1978's Superman and 2002's Spider-Man, Nolan's Batman Begins is better just by the fact that it isn't reserved only for those familiar with the comic.

Nolan creates a realistic world and unveils Batman's origin in a manner that doesn't have to be explained away with, "Oh, it's from a comic book." He backs up the world and completely grounds it in reality. Batman Begins lives up to its title in every way, a film that is undoubtedly the best set-up ever for a series, but also a near-perfect standalone film."

I hope it has a Director's Commentary and deleted scenes/outtakes...

I want an extended version. There were so many scenes that looked like they were cut short.

Well Im sure much of what Im saying now has already been said but after two pages of reading I felt the need to post

Gary Oldman as Gordan.....holy shit
could NOT have picked anyone better to play the part I felt he was the Gordon from the comics

Micheal Caine as Alfred...brilliant not the comic version but better

Morgan Freeman as Lucious Fox...brilliant MUCH more different than the comics but makes more sense!

Christain Bale...BEST BATMAN EVER

whatshername as Rachel Dawes....stupid no need for the character and hated the whole reveiled identity thing again

While I used to love the Burton Batman movies cant enjoy them as much anymore Nolan's version truer to the mythos. Doing better than Spider OR Xmen.

The opera made sense why would billionares go see Zorro on the big screen? And wasn t the Opera DieFliedermaus?

Loved Zsaaz and Falcone!

Scarecrow dude was a Johnny Depp wannabe.

Loved the Dukatt beingRa's.....so why put a big name as the false Ra's? And where is my Dukatt figure?

My girl tells me that giving pearls is "badluck" as it is "tears of an oyster" and they shouldnt be given to anyone.

Loved how Bruce felt guilty about his folks death and the whole falling in a cave bit.

And of course I loved the allusion to the Joker at the end!

Agreed on nearly all points except your assessment of Cillian Murphy. Murphy was fantastic. It's a hell of a task to hold your own on the screen alongside names like Caine, Freeman, Oldman and Neeson, but that bastard did it.

IMAX sounds like a cool way to see this movie.
