" Daddy Dearest "

Part 3, by Beardguy.

Jack looked at his father. He wasn't shocked at all that he had broken into the house and had made himself comfortable. He was thinking about someone else now.

Jack's only concern was Taz. Taz was now 18 years old. Taz was still in very good health. Or had been, until now. Jack did not trust his father. He had gotten a pair of siamese kittens when Jack was 8 years old, and Jack had been put in charge of them. They were brother and sister. They were quite active, and into everything. They were soon declawed, but after only a month of their being in the house, Jack's father had grown weary of all the noise and things being knocked over and broken.

Jack came home from school one day to find that the litter boxes, food and water bowls were gone. So were the kittens.

Jack asked his father where the kittens were.

" What kittens? " He asked his son.

Jack never found out what had happened to those two kittens. He suspected even as a child that his father had killed them, but could not prove it.

Back in the present, Jack was frantically looking for Taz. He was fairly certain his father had already disposed of his cat.

" Taz! Taz, where are you? Here kitty, kitty. "

'' Who are you talking to? " his father flatly asked Jack.

Jack ignored his father. He searched all of Taz's favorite hiding places, but he was nowhere to be found.

" Come here, God dammit! I'm talking to you! " His father yelled at him.

Jack wanted to say something back to his father, but all he could think of right now was Taz. If his father had hurt that cat, he would pay for it, somehow. Taz was all he had left now. Everyone else who had ever loved him was dead.

" What have you done with my cat??? " Jack screamed at his father.

His father stood up slowly. He just looked at jack, the anger in his eyes increasing by the second..and was shocked to see his anger matched in the look his 58 year old son was giving him.

" Where is my cat? " Jack said loudly.

" What cat? ", The older man asked, grinning at Jack.

" That's it. You get OUT of my house now! " Jack said very sternly. He walked over to the front door and opened it.

" I'm not going anywhere, until you sign these papers. " He said, and took some papers that were stapled together out of a black briefcase he had with him, and handed them to Jack.

Jack took them and scanned quickly through them. He couldn't believe what he was reading. It was a legal document, telling him that he could not live in the home that was his, because his sister needed to sell it and use the money to help support her family.

" I will NOT sign these papers! " Jack shouted, as he tore them up, and threw the pieces in his father's face.

" You pick that up! Now!!" His father bellowed, his face red with anger. " You are NOT staying here! "

" Fuck you, Dad. " Jack said with a smile.

" What did you say to me? " Hollered the angry older man.

" You heard me. Fuck you, and get out of my house, before I call the police and tell them you killed my cat. " Jack said calmly.

" You take that back..now! " His father drew a 45 handgun from a holster under his black dress jacket.

" Or what? If you kill me, you'll go to jail. You'll love prison...and I'm sure your fellow criminals would love an asshole like you. " Jack said, not caring about much of anything anymore. He hoped Taz had not suffered when his father had killed him. Tears welled up in his eyes at the thought of his father murdering his cat.

" I'll give you one last chance to take back what you said"

Jack was proud of himself at that moment. He'd always been too afraid of his father to stand up to him. He knew as a child as he knew now, it could mean his death. It had eaten at him badly, knowing he'd never stood his ground against his father. Now he was, no matter what the consequences. He was sweating. He was afraid. He was not going to back down, no matter what.

" Fuck you, you sick asshole! " Jack shouted at his father.

Hector fired the gun at his son. A loud bang sounded. Jack fell to the floor. The bullet had gone straight through Jack's heart. He fell to the floor, dead. He never felt a thing.

The blood ran from his chest, and made a puddle on the lighter colored floor.

Hector's eyes betrayed not even the slightest sign of remorse.

He pulled out a cell phone and used the speed dial to call his daughter, Donna.

" Hi pumpkin, " He greeted her, as he sat back on the couch, and puffed on his cigar.

'' The house is all yours. Have your husband and his friend, Donny, come to the house. I need them to help clean up a mess. "

He ended the conversation by telling his daughter that he loved her.

A half hour later, the two men arrived. They saw Jack on the floor, dead, and just laughed.

" What a loser. " said Donna's husband, Fred.

" Yeah! " Laughed Donny.

They picked him up and put him into an old trunk they had brought. Then they cleaned up all the blood, and used a cleaning compound that would render luminol, a chemical used to detect traces of blood, useless.

Hector took Jack's cat, Taz, who was dead in a trash bag, strangled with a rope by the big man, into the trunk with Jack's body.

He laughed as he did this.

The three men left the house. It had been the silent witness to two murders that day.

Several days later, people began to wonder where Jack was.

There was no criminal investigation. Their were no witnesses. Jack, it seemed, had simply disappeared. It was rumored that he was distraught over his mother's death, and had gone away and commited suicide.

It seemed that Jack's father, Hector, had gotten away with murder.
