Daddy Dearest part 4

Conclusion.

A story by Beardguy

Jack's father's health had declined rapidly in the months that followed Jack's murder. He had a heart attack, a bad one, and a month or so after that, a stroke.

One year to the day of Jack's death, Jack's father, whose first name was Hector, had a major stroke and died, on the exact same time of day that his son had died.

The last thought on his mind had been how good it had felt to kill his own son. He'd played the scene over and over in his head, watching Jack fall dead to the floor.

He could not see that day what had happened to Jack a few seconds AFTER he'd shot and killed him.

Jack had felt nothing, no pain at all. His death had been instantaneous. And then he'd sat right up. He looked around. He saw his father on the phone, talking with his sister. He saw his own right hand. It was surrounded by a whitish blue glow. So was the rest of him.

He looked down and saw his dead body. It startled him. He saw the puddle of blood which grew larger on the floor around his lifeless body. He gasped in disbelief. It was at that moment he realized that he had died, and all that was left was his soul, the essence of who he'd been. His body, now an empty shell, had merely been the vessel that had transported his soul.

He looked rather intently at his father. He felt intense anger for a few moments. It faded almost instantly. He'd actually done Jack a favor. Everyone who had loved him, and whom he had loved, was now dead.

And now, Jack was dead, too.

He looked again at his father, now feeling totally indifferent. Jack did not know it then, but his father would die a year to the day after he'd killed Jack. Jack also didn't know that, after his Dad had died from a stroke, He'd went straight to God, who had manifested himself as an angry looking white bearded giant. Jack's father had begged for mercy, but to no avail. God did not send him to hell. God did not even speak to him. He simply waved his hand, and simply made Jack's evil father vanish into nothingness. He was gone. There was was no chance for him to come back and hurt anybody ever again.

Jack became used to the idea of being a spirit now. He wondered what was next? Would he be doomed to wander the Earth as a disembodied spirit?

As if to answer his unspoken question, a shimmering blue - white light appeared before him. At first it was egg shaped, with blue tendrils or fibers appearing from it's sides. It made a low pitched hum, Jack found the hum quite soothing.

It started to change into a human shape. Even before it was finished it's transformation, Jack knew who it was.

It was Trudy.

She now appeared as she had looked to Jack on the day she had died. She was wearing the same white short sleeve shirt and blue jeans she wore the day of the accident.

" Hi, sweetie....It's good to see you again. "

" Trudy....I missed you so much.." Tears welled up in Jack's eyes.

He walked towards her and gave her a big hug.

" I missed you, too, Jack. " Trudy said as they embraced.
Her eyes became a bit teary, too.

" There's someone else here who loves you. ", She told him, as she pointed behind Jack's right shoulder.

Jack looked behind him. There, on the floor, striding towards him, was Taz, looking as healthy as he had when he'd only been a year old or so.

" Taz! Taz, you're ok! " Jack exclaimed, a broad smile on his face.

Taz jumped right up into Jack's arms and purred loudly. He cried as he petted Taz, who purred loudly in Jack's arms.

" Sometimes, I think you love that cat more than you love me. ", Trudy said, smiling.

Jack laughed, as did Trudy. They kissed.

" Shall we go now? Your mother, Mike and a few other people are waiting to see you. "

" Sure." "....Uh, go where? " Jack said, a little hesitantly.

" To a place you've seen before in your dreams. A good place. ", Trudy reassured Jack.

" Ok.", Jack told her. They both ignored Jack's father as he sat and chatted on the phone, laughing and smoking his cigar.

A few seconds later, a bright light appeared. It was an eight foot tall, eight foot wide spheroid shaped portal. It was shimmering, like water on a clear, sunny day.

" Take my hand, Jack, we'll go through together. "

And they held hands as they went through the portal, Jack holding onto Taz, and the woman he loved.

They disappeared into it, and the portal closed up and vanished after them.

And Jack was happy again.
