Seriously, however, the military leaders keep insisting that they don't want a draft, that the nature of the military requires a different soldier than the days of WWII and even Vietnam.
Are they correct? I don't know. Israel has a pretty top notch modern army and, last I knew, they still had a draft.
Of course, they're a hell of a lot smaller and are surrounded by hostile neighbors.
Sometimes I think a draft might be a good idea, especially if it did it in a way that appropriately matched people's skills to their assignments.
And, before you say, but would you want your daughters to go? Sure. Unfortunately, their Democrat mother won't hear of it.
Oh, and PS--with my eyes, I couldn't pass the physical for OCS twenty years ago. So don't ask me why I didn't sign up.
