Why wouldn't the DOD want the Abu Ghraib photos released? I imagine they wouldn't want the "enemy combatants" to go on another beheading or rioting spree.
then maybe they shouldn't have let the troops get away with it in the first place. this isn't some lord of the flies scenario where they were isolated and went insane, they were under constant command and orders and no abuse like that by that many people can possibly slip under the radar.
