RKMBs Forums .::Robegories::. Games and Tech Prince of Persia and Jade Empire...Yay or Nay?

My roommate and I were eyeing the games at the store...so...does anyone recommend them or want to warn me about them?

Prince of Persia is supposed to be verrah kewl...I never got to it, but it's earned some terrific reviews.

The Original: 93%

The Sequel: 84%

Jade Empire: 89%

Those rating are based on multiple reviews, so that's a good sign.

a bird flying into a closed window is a bad sign.

I liked Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, I have yet to play Warrior Within or Jade Empire, though.

my friend beat jade empire, it took him like 3 days of almost continuous gaming to do it.

i thought it was a waste of time.

I played a little of Jade Empire. Neat little game. Wish I had time to play it more. And it has Firefly's Nathan Fillion as one of the voices. I geeked out over that....

Prince of Persia is....interesting. Basically you spend the whole time solving puzzles of different kinds, like pulling different leavers in different positions, or using mirrors in massive rooms to reflect the light and open doors [that mirror room towards the end of the game took me about 50 minutes to complete]. You also do a lot of running around, like running along walls to escape a collapsing bridge, leaping onto stone pillars and jumping from them etc....

Only downside is the combat. bad news is, theres quite a lot of it in the game

You only have one combo, you get attacked in hordes, and you have to knock down THEN drain every enemy while they're on the floor. If you dont, they get back up again. Problem with this is-- Most times you drain a fallen enemy, another enemy takes it upon himself to slash you in the back, taking 1/3 of your life, and you cant do anything because when you drain the fallen sand warriors you enter a mini-cutscene, unable to move

It can be very trying on the patience, especially the vultures with seemingly cant be attacked unless you let them attack you first and wait for them to hover over you. It can be a real pain when your low on life aswell, especially seen as you can replensih it at a water fountain but the enemies wait for you to start drinking them attack you from behind.



Jad Empire is a good, but very short game. You buy it because your meant to take advantage and replay it multiple times from different points of view [like the light and dark side].

I HATED Prince of Persia. It was so boring.

The seond one though, Warrior Within, was excellent. I'm also lookin' forward to PoP 3, which should be out in a couple months.

I LOVE this game so far. Yeah, the fighting is not as easy as KOTOR, but I'm still enjoying the game. For some reason, I really like his annoyed comments when I die. 'No no no...that's not how it happened.' It sort of reminds me of Tomb Raider, except I don't need a walkthrough guide as badly.

I played aboutn three hours worth. I'll probably play more as a treat for all the microbiology.

Highly reccommend *both* those games. JE especially if youre a KOTOR fan. PoP is just a gorgeous well designed game.

What the story like in Jade Empire? The plot's good, right?

Same company. My roomie bought it and i only played the first few levels, but the stories engaging and I actually like the fighting system better than kotor's.

The story is pretty good and depending on how deep you go into sidequests, it can be streamlined or pretty indepth.

yeah there are many sidequests..i beat it pretty quick, and only replayed it once. prince of persia i lost interest with about halfway through. I think I just lost interest in the action game genre. I much prefer strategy, rpgs, and football. So I guess you already bought pop though..it's nice especially if you like that stuff. I just think most of thos egames are annoyingly difficult though now. Splinter cell being a prime example.

The story in jade empire is very good. nice game engine too.
