i never understood why people got so whiney about her part in 'begins.' was it oscar worthy? no. but, at worst, i found her role unnoticeable. at best, she was just another piece to the pie.

In my case, I don't think it's whiny to not want her back.

Exactly.

Why is it "whiney" to dislike the actress/character? It's bad enough she's a subpar actress, but the role itself was vanilla and completely superfluous- what was the point of having her there in the first place as an anonymous ADA, when the role could have been used to establish Harvey Dent? What? For the romantic angle? Big, fat, fucking yawn. When is Hollywood going to realize that Batman doesn't need some bullshit romantic angle to make him interesting? If they insist on having a love interest, make it Talia or Catwoman - at least they are characters of substance and not some slapped together, one-dimensional (not to mention badly acted by a fug actress) snooze inducing, disposable character.

That's my prob with Holmes' part in the movie.

I agree with Rob. I don't think the problem is with multiple villains. I think the problem lies in how those villains are used. Focus the sequel on Joker and have Penguin kinda playing in the background, setting up his criminal empire and working almost behind the scenes (maybe having a role in Joker's plots). That way, you've used multiple villains in a way that doesn't bludgeon the viewer or create a campier movie. PLUS, you've also set up your third movie - with Joker defeated, Batman has to turn his attention to Penguin, who has built up his empire and is now a foe to be reckoned with - hell, he could hire a couple of Batman's rogues and that explains why you get multiple villains in the third movie!

I couldn't agree with Dave Mama more. The problem is, when I think of multiple villians, I invariabley think of B&R or Batman Returns or some other schlock and forget that there were many villians in Begins, and yet it was still an excellent movie. I am surprised though, that Talia won't be in the next one, as Ra's did mention he had a child in Begins and it just seemed to be the perfect segue to introduce her in Dark Knight (frickin' the title!).

i have faith in nolan and tone of begins to an enormous extent, so i'll grant the benefit of the doubt. but, just reading the announcement months before cameras even start to roll, i'm annoyed by both of those selections.

I concur.

Yeah.

Dear, sweet Harley Kwink...I'm madly in love with you. Marry me! We can go to Canadia. Or Boston or something. It'll be grand...You know the cookies are a given. They are ALWAYS a given. You could dump me tomorrow and you'd still get the cookies. Boston..shit, wherever dyke weddings were legalized. And where better to rub their little piggie noses in how bad they suck than right on their doorstep? What are they gonna do? Be jealous of you? Stare furiously at your tah-tahs? Not willingly give you cookies, but instead begrudgingly give you their cookies? Woman, time to wake up to the powers you wield - Uschi
