1) I have plenty of money (for now), and will probably just end up relocating up to South Carolina permanently. Your generous offers and concern are sincerely appreciated. You don't know how good it feels to know that there are people out there that actually give a shit.
2) Wbam, the situation is pretty much exactly like most newsites have shown. Whereas New Orleans was hit with mostly flooding, the MS gulfcoast (us) got slammed with mostly torrential winds. It leveled us all back to the stone age, for awhile. I've been reading up, and have heard that all of these volunteer elec crews have flooded into the state, and some power is being restored, as well as water. I plan to try and make it back down there this week to see if any looters claimed my remaining stuff. And, yes, the looting and violence is exactly as bad as you hear.
3) I am not the only one on this board that got hit. Remember, Grimm and thedoctor both live in the same city. And, while I think Grimm's family only suffered minor damage with trees, Doc's roof was punctured and shredded. Both are in Atlanta right now, and have no access to the net. But, keep them in mind as well. Sonhaven (a guy that still posts here sometimes) actually lived in Gulfport....a city that no longer exists. I haven't heard a thing about him. So, keep the others in mind, as well. I'm very, very, very lucky compared to alot of people.
4) Some people will continue to use this devastation as a political platform to further their own ends. Both, on these boards, and, in the political arena. Could something more have been done? Could they have reacted quicker? Could this have been predicted? Who fucking knows. Is it really that important? If this is some kind of political/social conspiracy of laziness, racism, ineptitude, and greed, there's nothing I can do about it. And, in the end, it's not going to reverse time and space. So, by all means, continue to debate it if you have nothing better to do. Let me know what you get out of it. Meanwhile, I'll be concentrating on the actual matter of rebuilding my life.
All in all, thank you all for your concern and generous offers. It's good to have family...
Glad to hear it......South Carolina permanetley huh? where abouts and what about your job?
