It didn't used to be. There was a time (before Matt Millen came to town, the season before, actually) when Detroit was known to pull off a big win against a playoff bound team late in the season. Over the last five years, the Lions have lost their courage. It's sad, really...

I never knew why Millen impressed the Ford family anyway. Millen was a former player doing TV. I didn't think then (and I sure as hell don't think now) that that qualified him for GM material. And his record speaks for itself.

Anybody you know going to game and going to wear orange in protest?

Not that I know of. I think wearing orange and rooting for the Bengals is the best way to send a message to the Fords. Forget the fire Millen chants, just root for the Begals in Ford Field. And if this garbage continues next year, we should root for the visiting team every home game.

I can kick myself for picking the Chiefs. Though I'm glad they lost. Nothing against the Chiefs, really, but I need them to keep losing. The Bengals play them at Arrowhead to finish the season and I want the game meaningless for the Chiefs so they'll basically lie down like dogs.

If Orlovsky doesn't start the second half, I might stop watching. The fans have been civil, so there really isn't any reason to watch this game.

And the Bengals are champions of the AFC North for 2005! This guarantees them a home playoff game at worst.

I stopped watching the game before it ended. Harrington came in in the fourth, right? Shows how much I was paying attention. Still, I know how you like to watch him Jim, so I'm glad that at least one of us got something out of this game. Well, you got two things, you bastard! Then again, maybe I did get something. Maybe Orlovsky will get the last start. Eh, who am I kidding? Garcia will start the last game, too. Glad I won't be home to watch it.

I went 11-5 this past week. The Pack did not come to play last night.

My totals stand at 126-70, 64.29%.

Week 15: another 9-7

Total: 116-80

59.2%

I must admit, I am surprised that I have been able to stay so close to 60% this season. The last few weeks I made my guess based on the standings. Last week I went back to just picking names again, although some were based on standings, but I didn't actually look at the standings to make my picks. I have no idea what that means.

The local radio was talking about what might happen with Harrington next year. They seem to think the Jets would be a great fit for him. They also talked about why Eli Manning is so successful in NYG. They said the management sat down with him and asked how he wanted to play, and what he needed, and then they went out and built that around him. The other thing they did was provide him with veteran recievers from the start. They contrasted this with what Millen did when he drafted Joey. The feeling here is that had Millen sat down with Joey and actually built the offense around how Joey liked to play, Joey would be a very successful quarterback right now. I hope Joey does go someplace that sucks and turns the whole thing around by being exactly the quarterback that team needs to kick start the offense.

Then there is Dre Bly. The question is does he need to be traded or can the right coach turn him into a team player? Of course, since Millen will still be here next year, that begs the question can Millen hire the right coach? Who is the right coach for Detroit? The local media is mentioning some big names, including Bill Parcels, who is a good friend of Millen. Thing is, Mariucci was also a good friend of Millen. And Mooch also had success before coming here. Would Detroit be better off with a big name coach, or should they look to someone with no head coaching experiancing looking to break in and make his mark? I'm actually more in favor of the latter. I would love to see the next Lovey Smith or Marvin Lewis come to Detroit and turn this thing around. The sad thing is Millen could have had either one of those guys, but he went with his friend instead. Not only that, the media is now saying that there may be truth to the rumor that Lewis or his agent called Millen asking for an interview. Millen took a fine to hire Mooch without conducting a minority interview. At the time the media was told, and believed, that no one wanted to be the minority interview because Millen was going to hire Mooch anyway. But, if these guys were calling, and they probably were, then that shows extreme negligence on Millen's part not to interview them. With only 32 head coaching jobs in the league, there is now way they didn't call.

Frankly, I think Millen's in over his head. He hired Mooch but then has no idea how Mooch runs his practices? (it was reported that Millen grew tired of Mooch's less than intense practices)

He drafts WRs #1 in 3 consecutive drafts?

I think many teams are kicking themselves in their oversight of Marvin Lewis. I praise the heck out of Mike Brown and his daughter, Katie, in that hire. Smartest coaching hire the Bengal organization has made since Forrest Gregg in 1980.

I went 11-5 this past week, again. The Bengals have now lost 8 straight to the Bills and have not beaten them since the Jan. 1989 AFC Championship game in old Riverfront Stadium.

My totals stand at 137-75, 64.62%.

The Lions scored three touchdowns on a Pittsburgh team tbat absolutely had to win on Sunday. The two touchdowns Pittsburgh won by were caused by Lions' turnovers that should not have happened, and would not have happened if not for the losing atmosphere in the locker room. Playoff experienced or not, the Bengals have a better team all around than the Lions. I do not have faith that the Stealers can beat them based on how they played with their season on the line last Sunday against one of the worst teams in the league.

I know Pittsburgh comes into Cincy on a four game winning streak, but I'm with PW: The Steelers let the Lions hang around far too long. And the Steelers last four wins included games against some of the poorerst offenses in the NFL--Detroit, Cleveland, and Chicago.

If Carson Palmer's healthy, I think the Bengals win this one.

So much for the Bengals. Their chances went down on the first play. Nothing sucks more than that.

As for the Giants, that was embarrassing.

I'm 2-2 for Wildcard Weekend.

I also went 2-2. Palmer going down last night was a tough pill to swallow. The team rallied around Kitna as best they could, but you don't have much hope when your MVP finalist gets his knee blown up two offensive plays into the game.

Here's hoping the Steelers lose asap.
