It's important to be sensitive to people losing their jobs. The fact is, this is the guy's profession. But his actions influence generations of students. How can he make up for this, when this is his response?

That's a proper response from someone who should be a teacher? I'm sorry, but this guy needs to find a new line of work. Let him stay on through the end of the year, and then let him go. That should give him enough time to find something to hold him over while he goes back to school to get a job that won't give him the opportunity to teach that something clearly wrong is right as long as it's done in good humor.
