I didn't understand the button/key thing. It was said the failsafe would bust the dam. Wasn't not pushing the button the equivalent of Desmond using the key with the failsafe?

That was like the greatest two hours of TV I've seen in a long time.
I kinda expected Michael and Walt to leave, but I really want to see what happens with them now. Jack, Kate and Swayer living with the others was a surprise to me, I was expecting Locke to join their side if anyone did.
The reason the plane crashed was a surpise, but not that surprising. I was hoping for it being one of the survivors fault, not Desmonds. The dude that played Desmond did a great job with this episode.
I'm still trying to process everything that happened.

Yeah, of everything that happened, Sayid's classic line of... "I am unsure of what disturbs me the most: that the rest of the statue is missing, or, that it only has four toes..." ...really freaked me out! That statue just added a whole new level of craziness as far as I'm concerned. Also, this was the first time we got confirmation that there actually IS an outside world: the scene at the end with Desmond's lover and the Arctic Russians catching Desmond's EMP. It's a true fucking shame they killed Desmond. I mean, I can think of a few others that I wouldn't mind losing in his place (Jack, Claire, Charlie). Rest in peace, "br'ther", rest in peace... Guess Henry Gale is quite an important figure in The Other's organization afterall. Curious. I've got to say, I'm tired of John Locke's complete neutering. His character was so badass in the first season. And now, he just keeps fucking up and getting people killed. Got to wonder if he and Eko survived or not. All in all, this is EXACTLY what fans have been wanting the entire season: some fucking payoff! This two-hour finale was nothing but payoff on mysteries and tying up plotlines. Well done, Lost. You've got me for another season...

I read an interview with Terry O'Quinn. He said he "missed first season Locke", and that he wishes he had "never found those damn buttons". Said he's been talking to the writers and what they're saying about Season 3 Locke made him feel much better. So, maybe we'll see the return of the shaman...

I heard from a co-worker (reliable source, I know) that Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond) signed on for the third season. I, for one, hope it's true, as I'm really curious about his time in the army and what happened that got his sent to prison and dishonorably discharged.
