what were, by far, the most expensive arcade games you've ever played? (and by expensive, im talkin about the trillion times you popped in quarters -- not the newer games that are $3.00-a-turn)

and im also talkin about games you went ALL-OUT for. not just games you really liked -- games you'd wake up thinking about.

i went thru phases of games, growing up addicted to the technology.

pacman
spy hunter
double dragon
street fighter II
teenage mutant ninja turtles
samurai showdown (especially 2)
killer instinct
marvel vs. capcom

unfortunately, i cant think of a game i've absolutely loved since marvel vs. capcom (any version) ... which has gotta be going back 3 years or so.

Street Fighter II

Only girl to play it and beat the boyz! It was at a camp ground arcade room. It was a small campground. BUT still, I had a high rank reguardless.

And this one Dino fighting game. Cant think of the name. Cant even find it anymore around here. Anyway you got to be a dinosaur and fight other dinos with POWER. Pretty cool.

I won at that to. It was at the Diary Queen up from my old house. I think I ended up in third or fourth rank when the machine was takein away. But still that aint to shabby! Consitering how many people go into Dairy Queen. Was in first...once.

Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. You want to talk about tough games. You had to spend a butt load of quarters to figure out which move you needed to do and at which particular time. Then, when you thought that you had it all figured out, you had to do the whole game backwards before you could save Princess Daphne. And you did all this just because it was a cartoon video game (and Daphne was wearin' a see through nighty. Man, we needed help.) And Space Ace was the same damn thing, just in space.

Didn't play those games much in the arcades, I just bought em and played them at home till the thumbs turned raw.....played Killer Instinct too.....

The Jurassic Park game was incredibly expensive and to beat it you would usually have to use about 2 or 3 bucks, which annoyed me.

TMNT- We used to pack up me and two buds and my little sister in my mom's car and hit the arcade with $10 each to go and beat this game (it got harder the more turtles that played, u notice?). And once was just NOT enough.

Dragon's Lair - Mostly wasted. The first was really tough to get through.

The Simpsons - Much like the TMNT, but this game was cool because it had that Simpson touch with every aspect of the television show, every character. Very awesome.

Donkey Kong and Pac-Man - favorites of mine when i was liddle...had 'em at Kroger...I had to stand in a grocery cart to reach it [wink]

The list is as follows in the arcade:
1.) Robotron $1000's
2.) R-Type $1000's
3.) Killer Instinct I $1000's
4.) Donkey Kong (in 4th grade) $100's
5.) Pole Position $100's
6.) Pacman $100's

Time is another factor altogether though:
Atari: Video Pinball, KaBOOM!!!, Warlords.

Commodore 64:
The Way of the Exploding Fist
Beachhead II
Racing Destruction Set!
Zork Series! By far the most aggregate time spent ever on any games (Zork 1-0 plus Beyond)
Even more time than Quake!

Terminator 2: Judgement Day- I love shoot 'em ups.

House of the Dead- same thing.

Donkey Kong Junior- at one point in my life, I was addicted to this game.

Donkey Kong- the greatest arcade game of all time.

Goldeneye James Bond pinball machine- a local bowling alley/bar has this, and everytime I'm in there, I throw about 2 bucks into the damn thing. I'm pretty damn good at it, too.

ProSkater 2000- Everytime I see one of these things, I spend hours on it. I hate getting off the damn thing, because my legs are all fumbly and jittery from trying to move the skateboard deck ya have to stand on. I'm pretty good at it, though...and for an arcade game, it's got some bitchin' punk music goin' on (Pennywise, Rancid, NOFX, etc.,...
