The base elements of Superman being the same are fine (needed in fact), but if this is a direct sequel as Singer's stated then that raises the problem for younger viewers who don't really remember the Reeves movies. Are we going to have Lois say Superman left shortly after defeating Zod (and vowing to the President he would never leave again)?
