Since TNA is shortly going to be starting on Spike TV, I thought the time was ripe to do a full roster evaluation. Feel free to disagree with what I say whenever you feel I've got it wrong.
NWA World Heavyweight Champion Raven
So far, so good. Raven's pulled out some of his best work for years during this run, and all his title defences have been pretty good. The DDT is a poor finisher, though
X Division Champion AJ Styles
I'm not sure about Styles. At one point he seemed to have lost a lot of his fire, but he was good at Unbreakable, and if he pulls out that form conistently his rep should really spread
World Tag Team Champions The Naturals
These guys have struggled to be credible champions, to my way of thinking. It's more of a booking thing that anything else, but I think they need more convincing victories
TNA Director of Authority Larry Zbysko
He's looked okay, and when given promo time has looked good. Fills the role pretty well
A1 Alistair Ralphs
Solid heavyweight wrestler, and tagging with Eric Young was a good move for him.
Abyss
Say what you like about his gimmick, but there's no denying that he's pretty damn good in the ring. His selling is superb, and his partnership with Jim Mitchell is inspired
Alex Shelley
Good technical wrestler, but I'm unconvinced about his versatility. Good member of the X division, but shouldn't hold the title any time soon
The Alpha Male Monty Brown
Great mic worker, good in-ring ability. I think he could be the next NWA World Heavyweight Champion
Amazing Red
Solid X division mid-carder. Can lift a good match to great, but don't rely on him to carry a mediocre talent
Apolo
Good wrestler, but has been used as a bit of a jobber. His tag team with Siaki looks really promising
BG James
Good mic worker, but maybe getting past his in-ring sell by date. Could be a potential manager, though a New Age Outlaws reunion could light up the tag division
Bobby Roode
Good solid wrestler. Perfect mid-card material
Cassidy Riley
His Raven fanboy gimmick has been entertaining, but there's hints of a potential twist in this tale. Needs experience, but is shaping up well
Chris Harris
Him and James Storm could do with a heel turn, and a renewal of the AMW/Naturals feud is just the thing to get the tag division over
Chris Sabin
Supremely talented X division wrestler. Desrves to be pushed to the top of the league
David Young
Diamonds in the Rough has turned around his TNA career. His spinebuster is quite possible the best since Arn's, though I'm no expert
Eric Young
Absolutely priceless. Can take scary-looking bumps, and makes for a good tag team with A1.
Fallen Angel Christopher Daniels
This guy is quite possibly the best X division wrestler around. Great outside and inside the ring, and a good commentator too.
Gail Kim
She's way hot, and can wrestle. Could do with more foes, though
James Mitchell
The best manager since Bobby Heenan's glory days. Has done wonders for Abyss
James Storm
Him and Chris Harris could do with a heel turn, and a renewal of the AMW/Naturals feud is just the thing to get the tag division over
Jeff Hardy
I'm sorry to say this, but Jeff looks to have lost his fire, and his match at Unbreakable was uninspired.
Jeff Jarrett
Grade A trash. Totally unbearable
Jerelle Clark
Underutilised, but he shouldn;t be tope of the list of guys to push
Jerry Lynn
Worked a good match against Sean Waltman at Sacrifice, and hasn't been seen since. Could be a good fourth name in the X division title hunt
Jimmy Hart
Hasn't done much, but hey. Good manager when called upon
Johnny Devine
Can't wait for him to get back, but what can he do? Maybe a feud with Sabin or one of the other X division wrestlers
Kip James
At his best in the tag division. A New Age Outlaws could fire up the Tag division
Konnan
ORALE!
Lance Hoyt
Looking better every match. The crowd loves this guy
Matt Bentley
His smart-alec heel thing works for him, and he's inherited Shawn's talent. Could be a big name in the future
Mikey Batts
Kinda blah, really.
Petey Williams
Good guy, very conistent. Brining Scott D'amore back would help him work the mic
Primetime Elix Skipper
Diamonds in the Rough hasn't worked quite so well for this guy, but give it time. Looks good in the ring, don't let him anywhere near a mic
Rhino
From underused WWE mid-carder to major league TNA name. Great ring worker, but inconsistent on the mic. Could do with a good manager to handle that end of things
Ron Killings
Good ring-worker, well placed as the 3 live Kru workhorse. If the team does split, I'm not sure where he'd go
Sabu
He's just so damn good. Has flourished in recent months, and you wouldn't think that he was in hospital earlier this year
Samoa Joe
This guy's been receing an insane push, but he dserves every bit of it. Possibly the best mat-based wrestler ever, easily head and shoulders above The two Chris's (Jericho and Benoit).
Sean Waltman
Sean's regained a lot of his fir since Hard Justice, but his no-show at Unbreakable is odd. Needs to stay focused
Shark Boy
Weird, weird gimmick, but impossible to dislike. Haven't seen him ever work long matches, but he looks impressive and is pretty over
Shocker
Hard working, very solid, but this guy isn't as inspired as Daniels or Styles. Hard to dpisute his workrate though
Simon Diamond
His Diamonds in the Rough stable is a good idea, and he continues to perform well in the ring. Good veteran talent
Sonjay Dutt
Good X division midcard. Could do with a few more guys to gace, though
Sonny Siaki
Looks like The Rock, but isn't quite on his level. His tag team with Apolo looks promising.
Traci
Proof that chicks that can wrestle are hotter than chicks who can't
Zach Gowan
He's got only one leg, but damn can he wrestle. Deserves to move up the card
