Well, when I got my Computer back from my hacker friend, a ton of software was on it and on of the things was Emulators for the NES, SNES and the Gamboy Advance. My friend exlained the concept, but since I never heard anything about it was kinda leary of it. To me it was just one of the things I was deleting once I got home. But instead, I decided to give it a chance.

I've been a RPG fanatic since Dragon Warrior 1 and missed out on my chance to play DW2 and 4. So those roms was the first I sought out, and all I can say is...WOW. FUCKING WOW. I never thought I could play full lenght NES/SNES/Gamboy games on my PC. I'm impressed! Hell, and its all free!

I'm just curious if any of you do this and what are some of your favorite games and sites to get ROMS.

I've known about ROMS and Emulators for about two years now. Here are some of my favorite games:

SNES

Chrono Trigger
Breath of Fire
Yoshi's Island
Macross: Shattered Valkyrie
Tenchi Muyo! RPG
Super Metroid
Dragonball Z: Hyper Dimension
Mega Man & Bass
TMNT 4: Turtles In Time
Super Mario All-Stars
X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse

Genesis

Streets of Rage 2
Spider-Man
Sonic 3 w/ Knuckles
any of the Shinobi games

GBA

Mega Man Battle Network 2
Sonic Advance
Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2
Spider-Man: The Movie
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance

As for reliable sites to download ROMS from, you'll have to search around. Whenever I find a site that has a ROM I'm looking for, it's closed whenever I go back. Go figure.

I'm a fighting game fanatic, so I have a lot of SNK and Capcom stuff. Also, I like Sonic the Hedgehog so I have just about all of those games.

I used to get a lot of my stuff off Kazaa, but now I've switched to Bottler.

Download MAME - and you can play the actual arcade games on your pc that you used to play at the arcade. The Simpsons, Street Fighter, TMNT, X-men vs Streetfighter, Popeye, Dig-dug, Pac-man, all those...

The emulator is easy to find, the ROMS are not. Piracy laws and all that. If you search long and hard, you'll find some good ones.

Use this site as a reference as to what the file names are when you search. http://www.mame.dk/

the krazed dj above helped get me into this world.

i know that the main goal of the program is to try to get free video games, but... for me, its to enjoy video games no longer available.

playing TMNT the arcade game again was a dream come true. things like pacman, kangaroo, killer instinct, samurai showdown II -- games that were out 5 (or 25!) years ago are my main interest, because there's no other outlet for them.

wonderful stuff.

It's very easy to find roms... What I do is go to Google and type the name of the system, the name of the game and ROM or ROMS (for example "NES ROMS Super Mario Bros").
