in this instance, I think Azzerello still has enough of a following that it will do okay. It's his second western and had a preview in 100 Bullets (I think there was one in Wi$ also). DC's pushing this series.
I don't get the attraction with Westerns at all. War comics I get. But Westerns...? Its really just picking an obscure part of history and glamorising it.
At least the Crusades had swords.

I don't know how things work down there in Vegemiteville, but that is hardly an obscure part of history. The entire concept of "The Old West", outlaws, and cowboys have been a huge part of America's pop culture for decades. It even gained popularity abroad as shown by Sergio Leone's Spaghetti Westerns and Akira Kurosawa's John Ford inspired "Easterns" like Yojimbo and Seven Samurai.
