Just curious, there seems to be A LOT of Nintendo players on this board.
Any fellow PS2 brethren out here?
Why'd you make your choice?

I enjoy all three systems. I play my X-Box most of all because of it's "Live" play. This site is a Nintendo lust nest. I still haven't figured out why. Don't get me wrong the GC has some nice games but it still seems tilted to cute games for younger kids. There is nothing wrong with that, there sure is a market for it as well. But the Resident Evil stuff kicks major ass.

mr lesbo is disturbingly anti-nintendo, but confusingly has a major problem admitting it (note above post).
i'm very much pro nintendo, and make no attempt to hide it. that doesnt necessarily mean i hate or even dislike the other systems, they just dont interest me. i'm indifferent towards them. i'm always quick to point out their plusses, but quick to explain how, in my view, the nintendo plusses outweigh theirs.
the reason i currently have a gamecube is really because i started out with NES. i've had every major nintendo system since then and have simply stuck with the company.
part of it is, of course, blind name-branding loyalty. i drink coke over pepsi for partly the same reasons.
but, mostly, its because i enjoy nintendo games better. much better. my favorite games of all time have always been nintendo games.
really, in this generation of consoles, all three major systems are identical. yes, there are differences us game freaks will notice, but... for all intents and purposes, the ps2, gc, and xbox all have the same capabilities.
in the same thought, most every game (80-85%) on the market is a third party game that can be played on all three systems.
so, since all three systems are very similar and all three have mostly the same game lineup, the major differences between the systems are whatever they have exclusively.
nintendo systems come with nintendo games. marios, metroids, zeldas, karts, rogue leaders, star foxes, eternal darkness(es?), smash bros, etc.
the weight and quality of the above games is, again in my view, by far and a way the biggest determining factor. more than enough to keep me in the nintendo field. if i couldn't play wind waker or prime, i'd be a miserable gamer, and missing out on 2 of the greatest games of all time.
and there's my reasoning!

Zod likes Nintendo pretty much the same reasons why Rob-El does. Zod grew up with an NES, a Gameboy, a Super NES, even a Virtual Boy, a Nintendo 64, and now a Gamecube. Zod has an old Donkey Kong game from the early 80's, years before the NES came out, that Zod can not help but play every once in a while. Nintendo has a certain style that plays to Zod's likes. Zod doesn't look for sex, violence, killer graphics. Zod wants to have fun or be intrigued and finds that Nintendo games provides Zod with the maximum pleasure of any of the systems ever created by any other company.
Zod admit he had a moment of weakness a few months ago by buying an X-Box, but now after playing the thing, Zod has been steered straight again and shall try to never stray from the path again! As for the X-Box, it has found its ass on Ebay where Zod hopes to make his money back...

I will admit, with the lower price, and the free game offer, I'm thinking of getting a GC, mostly for my girlfriend, who, like Rob and ZOD, grew up with the NES system (she still has 'em, and when I get nostalgic, I'll plug 'em in and play whatever games she still has). Plus she's a major Zelda fan, and I've turned her into a Resident Evil nut as well. But personally, I just prefer Sony. The DVD player is nice, it's my first DVD player. The controls are fantastic, and there are so many more games for the system I'd rather play. In the end, they won me over. XBox, however... man why? I can respect Nintendo, but XBox... never.

its definitely a "to each, their own" kinda situation. all three systems have their benefits, so if ps2 works for you, then by all means have fun with it! ![[biiiig grin]](images/icons/grin.gif)

Rob is right. If you enjoy it that's what counts the most. Hell, it's your money.

I enjoy Ps2 as much as any of them, and I have all three. There's not one I like more than the other, so far.
Nintendo rocks because the games are familiar to me. Zelda, Mario, etc.
Ps2 rocks because of the role-playing games it's kept in family. Until Final Fantasy crosses over to another system, I'm keeping it around. Also enjoyed Kingdom Hearts a great bit.
Xbox is kewl because of certain exclusive games. Of course, Buffy. That, and the hard drive is way nice. Don't have to buy a memory card, and will act on it's own as a cd player/dvd player. Not a great incentive to buy, but nice to have.

I'm not anti-Nintendo. Hell, I still have over 130 NES games. I have every system Nintendo has made along with plenty of games for each. I still play my GC just not as much. I enjoy the relationships I have made via X-Box live. The human element is really cool with the live play. At the same time I can't stop playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein off line. That game really rocks. My favorite GC game has to be Resident Evil 0. What a fun game.

The main reason I got the PS2 is that it can play old Playstation games as well as new ones and DVDs. If I were to get another system it'd be an X-box for the Buffy/Superman games. But, I'd have to think long and hard before buying a Gamecube. Those little mini-discs scare me and challenge my sense of manhood.

Nintendo FUCKING ROCKS!!!
Though I do like my PS2. I've been a Playstation fan for a long time. But...Nintendo was the first game system I ever really got into. And I've owned pretty much every system they have ever put out (Minus the Virtual Boy, though I did play it once)

The PS2 just went down to $179 plus the majority of their games cost under $20 plus plays all PSOnes and DVDs.
I'm a proud owner of a PS2. Also a Playstation(mod chip of course), a Sega CDX, Turbographc and yes...a NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM ![[biiiig grin]](images/icons/grin.gif)

I have all three systems, and while PS2 is awesome with its GTA and Final Fantasy series and GC has all the original Nintendo goodies, I just fuckin love the graphics on XBox. Don't get me wrong; graphics don't make the game, but playing Splinter Cell on X-Box is more enjoyable than on PS2 because of the hightened graphics. I was dissapointed in XB's MGS2 release because it looked the same, but I'm pretty much sold on X-Box. And don't forget about Halo and Project Gotham Racing either.

I`m not talking about the systems anyway,I`m talking about the add ons & games!

Consoles scare me. They sometimes lack versatility. I'd rather bind sixty different keys on my keyboard than learn sixty different functions on a gamepad that I'll probably forget anyway. ![[nyah hah]](images/icons/tongue.gif)

Having remained untouched by Nintendo branding, I roll with PS2 cuz it had the versatility (DVD function), value (backward compatibility w/ PS1) and a couple of games I had to play.
But GC will be next cuz it's getting MGS: Twin Snakes. Oh, yes.
Sorry, Mr. Gates, but I'll just play Halo on my Mac, thanks.
