It's the sound of karma biting Terrell Owens right on his overpaid butt. Owens Suspended Indefinitely By Eagles

It was inevitable. His behavior this offseason and into this season should show other teams exactly what kind of person he is.

i applaud the eagles for having the balls to bench him, as its clearly difficult dropping one of your top players.
i really wish the nfl, and sports in general, would take a harder line against crap like this. players like TO, keyshawn, ricky williams, etc. i know they're all great, and i know there'll always be teams that will pick them up and play them, anyway, but... i really wish a sterner message would be sent, by having all teams refuse them.

It's a nice thought, Robbo. Sadly, talent wins over character in today's sports, with its greater and greater emphasis on "win and win now."
What I do imagine, though, about T.O. is that he will...
-be cut or dealt by the Eagles in the offseason -never get the big money he wants.
I think he'll see nothing but incentive-laden contract offers. Teams will want him, but they will put it upfront and in writing how they expect him to behave. To get his money, he will have to behave. I truly believe that. Moreso than other athletes in the NFL, his salary will be tied to on and offield performance.

SI.com and ESPN are reporting that the Eagles will suspend Owens the remaining 3 games permissible under the CBA for conduct detrimental to the team. Following that, the Eagles will deactivate Owens for all remaining games, effectively ending his season.
The Players' Union has notified the NFL that they plan to file a grievance against the Eagles on Owens's behalf.

OK, let's play Speculation...
Say the Eagles trade him or outright cut him after the season. Who the fuck would take TO?!

I cannot see that they can trade T.O. because I can't see any team wanting to take his contract on given his behavior sinc the Super Bowl.
I say they cut T.O., take the cap hit, and move on.
T.O. will sign with another team because he's got obvious talent. I think that any contract offered him will be heavily incentive-laden. Or it will have aspects of it that are voidable based on off-field conduct.

Despite what he said about Favre, I don't see him as a Packer. No effin' way. A Falcon, most likely. Maybe a Dolphin. HA! A Viking.... Hell, maybe even a RAIDER.

Shucks. Y'mean the Eagles actually grew a pair and did to him what that loud-mouthed half-wit has been doing to them all season? Doesn't seem right. I mean, T.O. is so charismatic! Such a great player! Why, oh why, couldn't the Eagles have just renegotiated the damned 7-year contract that T.O. happily signed a year or two ago, when he begged off the 49ers AND the Ravens to join the team?
Yeah...fuck Owens.

And speaking of voidable stuff in any Owens's deal...according to ESPN Radio this morning, the Eagles assert that there is $1.72 million voidable in Owens's current deal with the Eagles (based on charges of conduct detrimental to the team) and that the Eagles will pursue enforcing that.

im glad the eagles finally saw what my niners did so long ago. I hope he doesn't piss Vick off too much when he winds up in atlanta.
big_pimp_tim-made it cool to roll in the first damn place! Mon Jun 11 2007 09:27 PM- harley finally rolled with me "I'm working with him...he's young but, there is much potential. He can apprentice with me and then he's yours for final training. He will remember the face of his father... Some day, Knutreturns just may be the greatest of us all...."-THE bastard

Sal Palantonio (sp?) reported this morning that the Eagles are more than willing to accept the eventual Arbitrator's ruling that T.O.'s suspension for conduct detrimental won't stand up. Sal Pal reported today that the Eagles will abide by whatever decision is reached and just keep T.O. deactivated for any remaining games for which he's not suspended. They do not want him back, even if it costs them money.

Like Atlanta's even going to want him after this.

I think there's no doubt...someone will want him. But I can't see them wanting him on solely his terms.

...meaning that even if he gets out of Philly, no one will want to renegotiate his contract for more money, or at least a significant raise.

If he's cut by Philly, there is no contract to renegotiate. He would be a free agent in every sense of the word.

True, but my gut says he'll be traded, not cut.
