DK, you're in grad school, but working on a group project with undergrads? You guys are grouped as equals?
I'm taking an undergrad class at a grad level as an independent study, because all the other possibilties were off-limits due to schedule conflicts. But as for equals...well, I've kinda staged a coup and assumed command of the group in an attempt to get everybody to do their job. I don't think we're on equal footing anymore.
I don't have the best track record when it comes to working with groups, mostly because of the people I work with. Too often I find myself paired with slackers, and there was one reeeeeeeeeeeeally ugly situation where I was back-stabbed and shut out from the group because...hell, I have no idea what was going through their heads. But back-stabbing is pretty much unforgivable where I'm concerned. It's one of my very, very, very few "I will hold a grudge until the day I die" things.
This current situation is just slackerism combined with an unfortunate case of too many people in the group, making it hard for us to meet up when we need to.
Also, professors usually don't want to get involved with situations like this, from my experience. So I've learned how to handle things myself and take charge when nobody else will.
Still, a chainsaw is a hell of a motivator, you've gotta admit that.
