Okay no more porn for me for a while. Something I did got this spyware on my computer. It hijacked my homepage altering it to theirs. I ran a virus scan and Ad Aware scan in safe mode and, upon reboot, am being told every 7 seconds that my computer is infected (in the system tray). When I click the bubble that comes up, it takes me to a site to download Spy Axe which is apparently a removal program. I did research at Download.com which tells me it's junk. However I don't know how to effectively remove it and keep it off my system. Any help would be nice. I have to be at work in 5 minutes (I'm going to be late) so I'll be back home after midnight. Please, if anyone can help I'll love you forever.

Just not in that way sickos.

This happened on my computer (which has in recent months coem to resemble a virus magnet of the highest magnitude). I'm not sure how to solve it shorta backing everything up and wiping the hard drive, but I'm looking into it.

Also you should install Spyware Blaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

It blocks alot of these hijacking things before you get infected.

Ah well, at least I was defended.

So here's the play by play:
After getting my internet explorer to actually come up, I did some hefty research. I updated ad-aware and my virus protection, both of which didn't catch a thing. It must be too new, therefore not in the definition files. Spybot was useless too. I googled SpyAxe and found boards with people having the same problems. They all agreed Spyaxe's removal tool was junk...don't use it (whew! Dodged a bullet there!). I tried using TrendMicro's Housecall service (always to be trusted) but, being on dial up, it took forever just to get started. Fuck that, I went to bed.

What I did do though was find the dll and exe files associated with SpyAxe, my googling helped with determining which were crap. Then, in safe mode, I deleted those folders and files. SpyAxe is now off my compy. It took me a while today to download, but Spy Sweeper (recommended by Download.com) got rid of a few things I didn't know were even on my machine.

The only problem I have now is my hijacked homepage. It redirects to updateyoursystem.com. The evil sons of bitches won't let me change it back to what I want. I used safe mode again to switch it, and I've deleted temp files, history, cookies, etc. about five or six times in this whole operation. I really think Housecall will fix things, but...yeah...dial up. I'll be calling in some friends who know what they're doing to help me.

Oh, I also sent them a nasty message. Anyone know who to report spyware to?

I had a spyware problem just the other day. It let a virus onto my system, which froze my task manager, regedit, and prompt functions. It operated off of something called a "TNS" toolbar, which eventually let someone come into my computer and try to take my info. My virus detector gave me a blip message that said someone was downloading info from my hard drive to a remote computer. Scared the fuck outta me, so I pulled the plug. Unfortunately, in doing that, I somehow corrupted the boot process. Now the data on my other hard drive is unreachable.

I wanna kill whoever made that virus.
