That bribery and corruption unconnected to a single lobbyist is somehow more excusable?
Or that bribery and corruption by a democrat is somehow more excusable?
As for your insinuation that democrats police their own, but republicans don't, I would note the following: the Abramoff scandal is being investigated and prosecuted by the U.S. Justice Department. The US Justice Department is part of the Executive Branch of the government and is directly answerable to...the Bush administration. As such, republicans have been policing their own for quite some time in this matter and will most likely continue to do so.
