I was on a roll. That wasn't all directed exclusively at you. I'm still pissed off about the Colts. But seriously, I do feel that way about the decision and everything. I just didn't think about how personally you might take some of that.

Yes, it was mostly directed at me.
Sammitch, I understand you preferred to have no Vanguard activity going on when you have no time/will/interest to write, so that once you would, noithing has changed.
For my part, I have time and will, there are a few people that seems to have the same time/will, so I am trying to start the wtriting again.
But:
•the streamlining need is not something exclusively mine. It has been discussed for months last spring, and Pro was about to write a story to streamline things. I merely suggested the one year later approach to start NOW with the streamlined universe, leaving a WHOLE year of time behind where a lot of stuff yet to be told by writers could be put, if and when the writerts would. If it would be for me, I will continue exactly where issue 19 has ended, but how many people would write it?
•Vanguard Classic is going to die just because it seems the majority is not interested anymore in it. Look, there are people that have not posted for months that now come and say that if we start from scratch they will join up. With the one year later idea, I did my attempt to save as much as possible of the Vanguard Universe. It didn't work, but I tried. What have YOU done to try to save it?
•There is nothing and nobody to prevent you to post issue 20 of VI, Sammitch. Do it. I will be there to write it with you. But how many else there will be? If there are no stories going, Sammitch, the Universe is dead even if no one has officially declared that.

No clue. Are we going with SpaMM's idea?
I really like it. Just, it could be handled both on the "garish superheroes" or "undercovered meathumans" tone. I like them both, I man prefers the first, Spamm I think likes them both, I guess you others should express a preference, and then post a basic features of your characters not to, like Sammitch said, step over our respective toes.
And then Spamm should start the Universe.

This is my character. The extent of his powers will depend on the scale of our stories.
Edulcore Cicciotto, comic artist. Being always late on assignment has hearned him the nickname of "Eurostar", an always late class of trains in Italy.

I think some self-policing should be put into action, too, personally.
Back when I tried to catch up on Vanguard Continuity when I was thinking of joining (some time ago), I noticed that half the roster was filled with immortals and indestructible or uber-powered twinks.
I understand that it was a kind of high-powered campaign but the power levels seemed uneven and imbalanced.
Remember: weaknesses are interesting and imperfections make for good reading, kids!
So, I think a medium-level chronicle without the god-like (or heck! even the gods!) characters with an eye towards balanced levels would be the most interesting.
But that's the opinion of a non-participant. If I'm interested in the story when you guys get started, I may jump in.

Cap Sam, please join us even though you may have some reservations. The more the merrier. And this comes from one who had too leave this place due to some very nasty characters needlessly cruel opinions about me...in the past. I know that my style of writing isn´t everyone´s cup of tea, my grammar is terrible, and my imagination often a bit "out-of-the-box". Some of the peeps in here had a hard time following my writing...but...some didn´t. It´s because of them that I return. I left in a dust of sound and fury, but return with an equal amount of energy and enthusiasm. So please don´t let some of us keep you back, let the ones who like you be your reason to throw yourself into the world of imagination and mental gymnastics. Have fun. Any constructive criticism you get may be just that, something to think about and learn from, any other criticism that simply annoys you...well...ignore it, I will. I´m here to enjoy myself and the merry band of writers I met when I first invented my devil, Naecken... Mind you, you will find that things have changed. My style may seem a itsy bit different since the last time you guys saw me here. I hope you will like it. So three cheers for the "One Year Later" project...here we come!!

...and all that gave me an idea. How about we do a "prologue" as the first story...show of our characters in the middle of a brief situation that ends with the character being contacted by the one(s) that will merge us into a new team?

I will think about it. It's probably not fair to accuse any individual or individuals of singlehandedly (multihandedly?) turning me off to this. My first priority as a RKMBs writer, though, is getting back up to speed in the RDCW. If I join you guys, I do have an interesting character idea... and the character bears absolutely no resemblance to any character from the previous continuity! Yeah, basically it's some guy who wakes up every morning with a different superpower/mutation/whatever. I got the idea from Chewy. I'll try to jump in at some point, but please understand my first allegiance is to Vanguard Classic - though that is in no way intended to be a slight against any of you.
Oh, and Chewy's still a bandwagoner.

In George R. R. Martin's shared super hero world there was a character like that. Only he so feared what his power might be (and the repercussions of it) so much that he fought sleep as long as he possibly could, to the point of insanity.
You might want to check it out. The series is called Wildcards, there are Aces and Jokers. Aces are the people blessed with usable superpowers while Jokers are those whose mutation is an hindrance. (The card allusion being the randomness of the card you might draw from a deck.)
It's an interesting premise.

I dunno about that. It's not a bad idea, but I'd like to hear about what everybody else had to say. The same goes for my story idea, though if we get a few more votes of interest (So far Euro, Chewy and I think T5 have given it a yes) before I do anything.
As for actual characters, I'm still working on mine.
OOK OOK ACK EEK!

I think we should discuss a little about the story and the characters.
Since we start from scratch, I think we should outline the status quo of the new Universe. I mean, it's a place where supeheroes exists and we merely band them up for the first time, or it's a place that so far has never seen (yet) superheroes?
Are there metahuman, mutant or old fashoned people that get powers the most different ways?
It's a "generic" superhero universe where cohexist supermen, magic characters, alien demons angels mythological gods or it's something more... I don't know how to say it... strict... (i.e., there are no gods, or magic doesn't exist...)
I think we could talk a little about that, don't you think?
Or else, we could do like last time and start just with the story and see where we end up.
As for T5 idea, I think that could be simply the beginning of the alien story. I mean, if the aliens are secretly "taking over" the government, there should be one that knows and that enlist the heroes (or would be heroes) to help him. Or maybe it's the aliens that want to capture the ones with superpowers and they rebels, it could be handled in dozens of way, but I guess in any case we are going to have to see our characters in a "solo" before them joining up.
I also think that a "solo" little story for all of our characters to be posted in a secret files thread would be cool.

I like what Gooz wrote. I found it inspiring. But I'm gonna wait to see what the rest does with that story before I join. I don't wanna introduce a character only to find out it's not my cup of tea later on, as it's happened to several people before, mainly in "Elseworlds".

It's good to see that you haven't pulled that stick from your ass yet, Grimmie. Just like old times.
Anyhow, anyone who wants to join into the story is more than welcome to. I felt a bit inspired and decided to check out the boards and post. Nothing is planned, feel free to intro new characters, old characters, or even just use Quinn, whatever. It's a shame that the past stories died. That would be a very grimm end to things, no?

and it's good to see you're still stuck in the past, and popping in and out and posting whatever you feel like without taking anyone else's thoughts into account.

What kind of talk is this from a "Moderator"? Should I report you to... you? How exactly does that work?

So now every post by someone who might want to start a story has to be approved by everyone? Shit, you've broken the rules many times. I mean I don't remember the last poll given for any of your solos or elseworlds or the JLR or Nowhereman Tales or (I think you get the point).
Am I stuck in the past? Nope. Like I said, I just got inspired and wanted to write with some old friends (Devin, Danny, Chewy, Euro, T5, TTT, Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer, Captain Carrot...). Grimm, you are more than welcome not to join in, don't get me wrong, no one is asking you to... But if you want to join in, the door is open. I mean I'm not the elitist.

So, people, just post what are your preferences and let's build something.
