just watched my tape of last week's smackdown.

great show!!

i mean... ok... i guess many wrestling shows would be great if you could hold down the fast forward button for 75% of the taping, but... still, it was good stuff.

the batista bit at the beginning was fantastic. the orton vs benoit match, with booker at the side was pretty cool, at least in premise. the actual match wasn't too great, but... i'm ok with it. the royal rumble set up was decent, but the pop for angle was really, really fun.

on the one hand, i'm sorry wwe ruined the surprise. ...but on the other, i'm glad they did, cuz i sure as fuck wouldn't have watched otherwise. and, according to the early ratings reports, it was by far the right move on their part.

the rumble itself wasn't all that spectacular, but it did tell a good story.

teasin rey's spot for the entire night was cool, and seeing him almost get to realize that dream was fun. i know everyone hates mark henry, and sure, he is a fat tard, but i thought he played a decent "unstoppable force" -- at least as far as this match went.

more than anything, tho, i loved how the fans loved rey rey, making them boo even louder when thinking henry won the belt. ... only to see kury rise from the ashes (curry ashes?) and build support to a character many smackdown fans would have otherwise boo'd (or, at least, with the rivalry, were sorta 'spose to)

and all leading to a huge payoff at the end, with angle taking the belt.

great show.

better than any raw in recent memory, thats for damn sure.
