Actually, I believe it was Aristotle who first made that post on parchment back on the Socrates's Damn Board in 332 B.C.

Blues is a soulful musical style that conveys the most heartfelt emotions. And we all know that the Japanese possess neither hearts, souls, nor emotions.
I am glad that a story seems to be developing out of this mess of a mini. Things are finally being tied up and explained. Hopefully this is a sign that Johns is coming out of his funk and starts writing stories again.

It's still a soap opera as far as I'm concerned. But at least it's entertaining... to those wo know continuity, at least.

But comics, for the most part, are pretty melodramatic to begin with.

I don't mean in that sense, I mean that it's for the most part one shocking moment after another with no substance in between. Because that's Johns' only aspiration as a writer: to shock us in one way or another. Even the few character moments (like Bats and Nightwing in this issue) seem to be written on auto-pilot.

I'm sorry, but I don't accept the idea that, just because "there are no original ideas" that I should accept "grim and gritty crises" being allowed to become as hackneyed and trite as the stuff like "Lois tries to trick Clark into marrying her" that "grim and gritty" replaced.
There needs to be balance.

Agreed. And it was the last 3 years or so that it became this way. It used to be that I could sit down with Young Justice (light, funny), Batman (grim, serious), and Superman (in between). Now DC seems incapable of that. Whereas you can get that balance easily from Marvel. Hell, Bendis himself writes Daredevil and Ultimate Spider-man to cover that balance.
DC does seem more corporate driven, they need a single viewpoint.

It always helps to add rape to a story so 6 months later you cancomplain that things are too dark.

I read a scanned version of this issue I downloaded with Limewire. It looked like Superboy-Prime's slide into "villainy" came as an accident. From the way I read it, he didn't become a "bad guy" until he popped Pantha's head off by an accidental application of too much force and then followed that up by intentionally killing several others. Before that time he was just having a slugfest with Conner Kent, which is no different than numerous other slugfests we've seen between super-folks. And now his guilt over the blood on his hands will propel him into going even further in his actions rather than admitting he was wrong and turning himself in to face justice.
Having given it a bit of thought, I think it's significant that Superboy-Prime only gained his superpowers suddenly all at once in his late teens and has very little experience with them. Most versions of Superman has him either gradually gaining his powers over several years and learning how to use them one by one and learning the value of restraint (in the case of the Silver Age Superman from a very early age). Superboy-Prime still doesn't know his own strength, and his lack of restraint, combined with his hormonal teenage emotions (especially jealousy, and probably frustration over his not being the hero he saw himself becoming, as well as the disappearance or death during the Crisis of his whole world of Earth-Prime, including his parents and his girlfriend Laurie), is a dangerous combination.

Will the bubble survive the crisis?
Dear, sweet Harley Kwink...I'm madly in love with you. Marry me! We can go to Canadia. Or Boston or something. It'll be grand...You know the cookies are a given. They are ALWAYS a given. You could dump me tomorrow and you'd still get the cookies. Boston..shit, wherever dyke weddings were legalized. And where better to rub their little piggie noses in how bad they suck than right on their doorstep? What are they gonna do? Be jealous of you? Stare furiously at your tah-tahs? Not willingly give you cookies, but instead begrudgingly give you their cookies? Woman, time to wake up to the powers you wield - Uschi
